Will be B788 but still holds more than an A332 in the case of Oman.

It will be up gauged to a B789 when they arrive.

Oman Airs flight yesterday was diverted to Tabriz in Turkey, following a medical emergency. Widely considered to be well handled from Oman and the flight touched down in Manchester at around 10pm.

I have heard from several very good sources that Oman Air looking to go at least 10 weekly as early as next year, and today, the CEO has publicly stated that:

"Oman Air is likely to go double daily on existing routes, rather than open new ones"

So, seems the rumours have legs...

Does make a bit of sense as they could then have 2 sets of connecting opportunities out of MCT. Maybe Monarch's disappearance has made them alert to getting a early morning slot & gate and with potentially dual runway ops all day, there's new morning slots to secure a departure

My understanding is that extended dual ops proposals are currently out for consultation with interested groups. However, I personally hope they get approved and made permanent ASAP (and I am one of those local residents affected). A potential fly-in-the-ointment is the recent collapse of Monarch. If MAG anticipates a significant fall in Air Transport Movements (ATM's) this could delay the decision, as extended dual ops represents a considerable investment. Several extra professional staff will have to be employed to cover the additional duties implied. At least most of the returning early afternoon Monarch flights were timed to arrive after dual ops had resumed anyway. Fingers crossed for a positive outcome!

Indeed the consultation is, I believe, underway and hopefully will be approved. One needs to be looking to the future and, if as User001 suggests, the shortfall of MON flights up made up for by easyJet, Jet2 and possibly Thomas Cook adding additional aircraft then the need will still be there.

I agree that the airport will have higher costs - extra fire crews, ATCOs and other professionals - however the need is there. And, for those living at the 23R threshold end it would mean less disturbance by departing aircraft.

Sorry for the thread drift. Maybe we should have a moderator to moderate the moderators??

Please continue any discussion on runway dual ops through the "General Thread."

Fantastic news although a note of caution, flybe could punt the vast majority of Scottish traffic via Heathrow onto the 2 a day Heathrow option, that realistically rules out Glasgow, Edinburgh , Aberdeen, unless MAN gains parity and in turn the same level of frequency and choice.

That leaves a realistic offering of the IOM Belfast and Exeter.

Andecdotally it seems Oman Air are using A330-300s more frequently at the moment. Are loads picking up in the busier winter season for them?

Those A333 frames used including today’s A40-DD and recent visitor A40- DE have a grand total of 4 extra seats however fewer premium seats in the mix but having 8 extra in economy even through they do have a small First class cabin of 4 !
The A332 have a total of 226 seats of which 30 are business class. The A333 three class frames have a total of 230 seats with 4 First Class but just 20 in business class.

In addition to A40-DD and A40-DE there is A40-DB in this format.

Nah these aren’t indicators of load increases least not of swishy organic life forms, maybe a few extra pallets, through more rather just used for operational reasons as aircraft go through mx

That said the original plan was to operate at least one weekly flight with the first cabin offered for sale using these A333 frames.

They do have three high density A333 however these are rarely used to Europe, that said at least on one occasion one was used to Manchester over the summer period.

These are mainly deployed into Asia on the nanny and hoist worker shuttles to the likes of Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta with rather rare visits west.

Thought the total seats was virtually the same as A332 just has F seats and more business

The high density units are usually deployed in the Asian host worker and nanny shuttle markets . These don’t have first and just 24 business seats but top out at 265 down the back

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
