I do love the 77W but I guess we still have PIA operating them, for now.

Great to see the second A380 confirmed, quite a coup for an airport such as BHX :)

A bit of a bitter/sweet sensation.
Double daily A380 operation is obviously quite a coup for BHX, punching above their weight compared to some much larger airports not only within Europe but around the World. I realise that this will have repercussions regarding cargo uplift, but this will be lost on the general public (although I still expect to read 'you can't travel long haul from Birmingham, the runway's too short').
It seems almost unbelievable that there won't be a regular EK B777 service to/from BHX. The type has been a stalwart for so many years.
Hopefully, the route will continue to grow and with the current fleet, the only expansion available will be the re-introduction of the morning B777 service.

A very encouraging article, incorporating a very positive review of Birmingham. This would imply that Birmingham is a popular and important destination for a considerable number of New Zealand residents.
Some years ago (2003), my late Father and I flew with Emirates to visit my Sister and her Husband in NZ. It was a long journey routing BHX-DXB-SIN-SYD, with an onward QANTAS flight to AUK (there was probably a flight from SIN to AUK, but my Sister and her Husband were on holiday in Australia at the time and my Dad had managed to book us on the same flight that they were returning on ((my Dad and I, having three days prior to this to explore Sydney)))
It was the return journey, that interesting comments were heard. On boarding the Emirates flight at SYD and showing our tickets and boarding passes, the Official said 'Oh, Birmingham'. For the flights as far as DXB, we were sat next to a pleasant family from London. When we arrived at DXB, we bade them farewell explaining that we were travelling onwards to Birmingham. They seemed shocked that we weren't continuing to London.

Just coming overhead now. A380. My son very excited..."on its way to grandma." Anyway two wings, four engines...it looks fine, so not sure why the stop off. Maybe sick passenger.

They have had to park the big "whale" on the 80s stands due to there being a problem with 54C and closing the whole stand, Oooooooooooooooooooops (n)

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
