Somebody in government recently said the UAE wouldn't be put on the green list regardless of how much of its population is vaccinated because Dubai is such a hub with passengers connecting from many different countries.

On that basis I can't see the UAE being on the green list until covid is under control globally - end of 2021, first half of 2022.

Strange train of thought.....by the same token Istanbul and Turkey should be on the red list already as TK fly to more countries than any other airline. Go figure!

To be honest, I think a lot of it is "we don't want people going to country x, so what reason can we think of to justify it".

I remember towards the end of last summer Turkey was one of the few places you could go to in Europe. As the season wrapped up, the government didn't want people going on holiday, yet the Turkey numbers were still doing ok at that point, so the government basically said "we don't trust the numbers coming from Turkey so we're going to place it on the quarantine list".

The govt policy, if it is endacted, around the UAE and the red list makes no sense and is completely unjustified.

yes, Dubai is a big hub, but there are several others such as IST, SAW, FRA, CDG and AMS just to name a few. If you cut off the UAE, people will just fly via other points.

I do often wonder if our govt understands how even the most basic principles of travel work?

Emirates are still going into LHR and MAN and have been for a long time. With regard to Turkey, they have seen a huge rise in cases in recent weeks, the highest it has been throughout the Pandemic.

First part, what @KARFA said.

Second part, cases in Turkey are falling and are now down to half of what they were 2 weeks ago. With another 2 weeks of lockdown there to go, case numbers should fall even further. They won't make the green list this month, and probably not even in June, but by July I suspect cases will be low enough for travel restrictions to ease.

Hi there all, let's see which aircraft they use, I would say to start 777-300, then maybe if demand is there, then a380 ,so 777 for am then a380 for pm.

From what I have been told it would appear to be 777-300 three times per week (Tuesday / Wednesday / Saturday but this is to be confirmed). I have not found out if the flight is the lunchtime (more likely) or Evening flight. In fairness all I am concerned about is availability for space to DXB and onwards as the last few months have not been the best for forwarders. Keep the A380 away from BHX at the moment. Lets get the 777 in and build accordingly with freight. Only problem is with no / few passengers flying the rates are high but such is the market at the moment. Happy to see this service coming back even limited as it is.

OK so a quick search reveals it will be 777-300 with the flight operating at Lunchtime (so far so good) but only 3 x days per week (room for improvement then). Lets hope the cargo side can keep paying for the flight otherwise EK will look at the figures and may decide to pull this as quickly as they have brought it back!

3x weekly from 15th June, Daily from 29th June

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
