No idea....flightradar is having a bit of a fit today and showing flights with their previous origin and destination instead of their current one.
Look for the aircraft registration and it will show you where it is right now

Birmingham Arrivals are now saying 12.15 ETA.

Found it!. A6-ENA Just passed west of Nuremburg. This from Planefinder app.

It gets stranger. EK40 just passed over my house, but FR24 lists it as routing Sialkot (SKT) to DXB -

I guess it's just one of those FR24 glitches.

I see that EK have signed up for 2 x 744 freighters on a long term lease agreement. This is on top of their 5 x new build 77F and 10 x conversions of 777-300 frames from their Passenger fleet. Unlikely to see the 747's here at BHX unless they have a charter I suppose but at least this brings them the capability to move things like Aero Engines without too much messing about again.

Now BHX has a main deck 747F loader back. I would never rule out one coming into BHX on ad hoc freight charters.
We have had a couple of their 77Fs in before.

Hi all recently flew Emirates and I have a few opinions but I'm happy for other people to share theirs too.

I booked a business class ticket and it said it include the limo transfer but when I got to the airport there was no car there. The handler said I should have booked this in advance but it wasn't made clear on the Emirates website.

I was disappointed by this as I was tired and I was expecting a seemless transfer experience when I got back. It cost me £60 to get a taxi home and I put this as the value on the transfer. At the end of the day given how much Emirates charge for a business class ticket I would have expected them to have sorted that out for me, I also know they will pay a lot less than £60 as they have a bulk contract with the taxi firm. I think if you are going to offer something like this as a part of your sales proposition you need to make sure the customer can access it it they want it. Not everyone in business is going to get the transfer anyway as some passengers have more convenient options. If there are more than 1 passenger on the ticket everyone goes in the same cars so it's not really going to be that expensive.

Also if the transfer was optional maybe I woudl pay for it on an economy ticket in some situations or pay a lesser fare if I didn't need it.

In some situations it represents really good value for money though, such as if you are 99 miles away. This means you can easily use it for a free transfer from places like Cheltenham, Oxford or Peterborough which probably why they are so successful at selling business class tickets on these routes from BHX.

Maybe some other airlines should think about it as it makes the airport more accessible to lot of people, even in places like Milton Keynes and Reading where people normally gravitate towards London.

Maybe contraversial on this one but would rather see 3 daily 777s than the A380 back at BHX as I know the 777-300ER can carry a lot more belly freight than the A380.

It would also be a lot better for transfers and convenience than the A380. As an industrial area cargo is really important to the West Midlands and I think more cargo capacity through Dubai would be good for local employers like Jaguar Land Rover.

Ultimately an enormous amount of freight is carred in passenger aircraft an dedicated freighters aren't needed in a lot of cases other than for physically large components.

For microfabs for example, which JLR buy a lot of these can easily be transported in hold cargo which is a lot cheaper as it's otherwise empty space. With everything being more expensive right now you can't underestimate the additional costs to local manufacturers of paying for dedicated freighters.

I don't think this is really any loss to freight handling staff, but correct me if I'm wrong. I think they deal with freight both on passenger and dedicated freight arrivals?

You are right in thinking that both Aircraft types will carry cargo. You are also right in the fact that the 380 carries a lot less cargo than the 777. Personally I would be happy to see 3 x 777 flights into BHX instead of a combination of 380 and 777 but it is the bean counters which make the decisions like this. I fully understand that after the investment in the 380 fleet they have to be put somewhere (and Passengers are more lucrative for the Airlines than cargo). Whilst the pandemic was taking place cargo rates were very high which made it more profitable for the Airlines to convert Aircraft to prioritize cargo. Now the passenger numbers are slowly creeping back up and cargo rates have dropped. Obviously Airlines will make more from passengers now and so the bigger capacity for self-loading cargo (AKA Passengers) is required.

I can only hope that we continue to see Freight charters here at BHX (as during the pandemic this was what kept this Airport going) as there is money to be made with these flights! Lets see how things work out.

I'd like to see more use of DWC for passenger flights. This airport is designed specifically to handle an enormous amount of cargo and traffic.

Most of the tourist passengers flying to Dubai want to go to this area anyway as this is where JBR is and all the tourist hotels and bars. It't also close enought to Abu Dhabi to allow people to get there too, which is good for stuff like the Grand Prix. Mosty of the heavy industry in Dubai is also in this area.

Everyone knows DXB is full and I think at some point Emirates are going to have to bite the bullet and start moving passenger services there as this is what they need to do now to expand the destinations they serve.
As it is Qatar are stealing a march on Emirates right now in the passenger market as they are able to open new destinations like Penang and Medan that Emirates haven't got the ariport capacity to add flights to.

Yeah, that's what I'm saying I think they should hurry it up.

Stuff can get build really quickly in Dubai though compared to the UK.

There are different outcomes for different airports.BHX gets 2 class planes.

When we do get 3 class planes in the 1st class Is closed off.Usually due to a 2 class plane not being available, or last minute tech issue.

So with no expensive 1st class cash coming in BHX has to put more bums on seats in economy to make the cash.So 615 seater A380s 2 class machines are used.

Freight at EK is rising quite quickly. Just this week they announced they are getting B747Fs on top of a new B777F order.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
