Have you offset the loss having Saudia and Qatar back?
I have dealt with both Airlines for a long time prior to them starting (or re-starting) operations at BHX. Neither of them fill me with confidence in the same way as EK. Whilst the aircraft can accept shipments the weak links are JED and DOH for connections onwards. While the reps will say that things are all sorted and we can book with confidence I remain to be convinced. The only way to check is to use the services and see what happens, but it is my Customers decision to let me move their cargo and I have to be confident to offer a service. EK gives me that confidence. The other two not so much.

Thanks chap... appreciate the insight. Surprised QR doesn't fill you with confidence like EK. You learn something new every day. I suppose it's good you have a bigger pool to dip in to for freight forwarding...big question...will you get your toes wet with them?

Every chance that the toes will get wet. I have always said that if we don't use a local Airline we will lose them! My problem is persuading Clients to give them a try!

Hopefully never! We have just lost 11000 Kgs of capacity for cargo and now you want to double that loss by getting another A380 in? 1 x A380 & 1 x B773 works fine for me thank you.

Big respect to the mighty Boeing 777 :love::love:

Do you ever use Air India CL44 ?

Could there be a possibility that emirates might just reinstate the morning flight with a 777 instead of making the evening flight an a380 to compete with qatar? I would honestly prefer the morning flight back as it would give passengers more options. We have the a380 back which is great but I’m sure bhx would be fine with 1 a380 and 2 777s.

I have used Air India (in the past) but not recently. As I have previously mentioned when we quote Clients we give a couple of options with the price varying based on the service level (standard procedure for what I do). At the end of the day it is the Clients choice which option they go for. I can advise current delays and give my own personal opinion on if a shipment might be delayed but most of my Clients understand that once the Airline has their goods both they and we relinquish all control about timings etc. A number of my Clients have standing instructions in place over which Airlines they will allow to move their cargo. I could offer a price difference of three or four figures and it still would not persuade some of them to change Airline.

On the opposite side of this some Clients will swap for as little as a fiver (cheapest price wins). The problem is that you do not get a champagne service with a bitter lemon budget!

Surely it’s a question of QR competing with EK’s two daily offerings, not v.v.

The morning wave tends to be the weakest performer southbound. I do agree that frequency is preferable over capacity, even though a three daily EK could possibly be detrimental to QR’s operation..

Whilst I loved having three flights available with EK and the 777, I do not see how this would now be offered as two flights does cover most of the banks of connecting flights. Please bear in mind the increase in costs per flight (handling / fuel and all the other little things that are chargeable to the Airline). Unless they know the PAX figures are there (with Cargo helping out as well) there is no guarantee to the Airline that they will make money by putting a third flight back in. Bear in mind that they now have competition with both QR and SV (which they did not have when the EK041/2 was in service).

EK41/42 also had first class whereas the other 2 don’t

It entirely depends what makes the most money for Emirates. The fact that BHX used to get 2 A380s a day would point to the high capacity A380 versions being able to generate more money than cargo.
So I would say the 2nd A380 would probably return next year.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
