I've been having a think about this and we potentially have a huge number of seats coming onto the market in a relatively short space of time. We don't know if First Class will become a permanent feature next year, there is some suggestion that it will do but for now we have to presume it will end on Dec 31st.
As of July 2015 there were 1708 daily seats available from BHX.
We've seen a new service start on a 77W with 720 extra seats per day available making 2428 in total.
As of Jan 1st that is due to revert to a 2 class 77W adding another 134 daily seats making an extra 854 daily seats over July or 2562 per day in total.
We then have the potential of an A380 sometime between Feb and May which will add another 376 daily seats, making a total of 2938 each day.
So in the space of of approx 8 months we could see the daily total go from 1708 seats to 2938 seats which is very impressive. Obviously if First does become permanent then one or more lower density aircraft would be used lowering the seat count.
I wonder if Emirates have got a sniff of the potential competition on the horizon and are getting in there early? I don't think the 'A380 factor' can be underestimated either.
