Do we think Aer Lingus UK will ever expand their route network from Manchester? I am suprised we dont see more North America destinations or Cancun for example.

Until America sorts its self out very doubtful as I have no inclination to go stateside with costs etc

That was probably the least interesting aircraft as there were 2 A321XLR EI-XLU and W plus A330 EI-GAJ plus a couple of A320 and A321s

“The base is performing lower than elsewhere in Aer Lingus, and Aer Lingus is performing lower than elsewhere in IAG, so it’s not performing at a level that makes it attractive for investment,” she told The Irish Times."
Doesn't sound positive. Interesting comparative in pay between the Irish bases and Manchester base.
"Irish crew’s basic salaries start at €29,833.26 a year while their UK counterparts start at £17,640.25 (€20,020). Unite said Irish staff get $171 a night for all US destinations while UK crew receive $111 for Orlando and $115 for New York."

Not so long ago she was saying the exact opposite about the MAN routes. L/Fs remain good. Sounds to me as though she is issuing a warning for EI UK staff to desist. If they do leave, the capacity will be quickly taken up by another carrier, no doubt.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was a negotiation tactic.

I have always said that they will go back to DUB at some point as there are more US desitations they can stArt from DUB and EIUK will not exist.

Shame if it happens
Not so much with an A330 though. If you look at a lot of the destinations they are launching from Dublin they are secondary cities and have been launched with the A321LR not so much the A330. Manchester routes are more suitable for the A330s rather than the A321LR.

As a separate UK company, Aer Lingus UK files an annual report at companies house so its all there warts and all really. It looks to me like they make about £12 profit per passenger, which does seem to be well below IAG overall and the Aer Lingus group within IAG (all of which is available in the IAG annual report). So to be fair, it seems a fair statement. Long-haul leisure with most of the demand emanating from the uk end is a tough business as plenty of others have proved.

But with a bit of effort they could be doing MUCH better.

Where is the codeshare with Loganair to feed the routes, why aren't they on dohop to get feed from easyJet, Jet2, Ryanair and others.

And lets not even start on the OW family that should be at the party

and n those reports you can see there was an intergroup transfer of €11 million, up from around €5 million. it begs the question of whether they are deliberately trying to minimize the MAN base profits without affecting the overall group profit,

Not really. The report clearly explains this is payment for services provided by the group under an agreed transfer price agreement. These agreements are put in place (and externally audited) precisely to stop the practice of artificially inflating losses in one part of a group in order to avoid tax.

Looks like a threat tactic. If (suddenly) it has gone from higher yields than parallel routes in Dublin to being unprofitable with high L/Fs, it is the airline’s fault. Anyway, One World would doubtless replace them, in whatever form.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
