We do get new routes at short notice. Air India's return in 2013 only became common knowledge about a month or so before.

I wouldn't rule anything out.

I think you need to manage your expectations a tad. The last 2 years have seen rapid growth namely due to the rebound from Covid and a new EasyJet base. This year we already have 2 new aircraft and an additional 20x flights from EasyJet (+16% on 2024), 10x new weekly flights from Ryanair (+5% on 2024), and growth from Jet2 (no idea as a % but I’m sure someone can answer)… TUi is reducing however. There might be one or two routes more and if so, that’s a bonus but otherwise, I would not be expecting anything new for a while…

I guess ur right pal.See I’m a optimist type of person who is someone who wants the best for things like bhx.as an I’m 22 now(today) I’m looking forward to what’s ahead of me.Football,A career ,Aviation and potentially losing weight. This will probably be moved into the random stuff section but I think it’s relevant to this personally.

Anyway I have a tough feeling that wizz air will expand this year from bhx and Ryanair in winter however depending if they will.

Things change fast in aviation but can also take YEARS to negotiate and agree. An airlines can cancel a route at a moments notice, but then equally announce a new route that will shock us all. It is always VERY hard to predict and I the reality, very few of us on this forum - if any - know the answer to many of your questions.

A few points for you to reflect on. This is a forum/rumours site, so in the event people have anything they can or are able to share, they likely will. You asking for information or news is not likely to change that. If they can share, they will share... so as others have said here and as someone who shares your passion and enthusiasm, just be patient... please!

@Mackadown spotter whilst my local airport is LBA, and I too have a passion and enthusiasm for aviation much like yourself, I will read other airport forums, in particular BHX seems to peak my interest.
Now without wanting to curb your passion and enthusiasm I have to say that I do cringe at several of your posts as I find your grammar appalling. If you really have a desire to get into something like Route Development (without knowing what qualifications you may have) then your grammar is something you really will need to work on.
Here at LBA we have some potentially very exciting times ahead when it comes down to route development but we, as @nwoody2001 has said for you guys at BHX, when info can safely be shared it will be. Aviation is a very fluid industry to say the least.
I am not trying to shoot you down in any way here, so please don't think I am, just supporting others in saying patience is a virtue.
All the above said though I will finish by wishing you a very happy 22nd birthday

Yet finger66 goes on literally every thread and moans about what people.Stay on Leeds thread pal
As this is a forum then as long as I am not actually breaking any forum rules, which I don't believe I have unless the mods tell me otherwise, I can read and post on any thread of my choosing.
@Mackadown spotter please also do not refer to me as "pal" because that is certainly not something I am with regards to yourself

@Finger66 u think ur a legend stick to Leeds don't come in here criticising people over the grammar whether u have ur opinion or not this isn't a place to criticise might ne acceptable in the Leeds forum not hear though

@Mackadown spotter No one is trying to offend you. We're just trying to give you advice. Like we have said, the roles you want to apply for require a lot of attention to detail. My advice (as someone who has dyslexia) is to reread multiple times and use tools like Grammarly to make sure documents/comments are perfect before submitting.

In aviation, you will learn about CRM. A key example that comes to mind is Air Florida 90; when a passenger told a crew member they could see ice on the wing of the aircraft, the crew member called the flight deck and advised they needed deicing as there was ice on the wing, but the flight deck decided it wasn't necessary without even looking, took off, then unfortunately crashed due to the ice on the wing because they never listened to advice given. In aviation, everyone works together, even passengers, to help each other and take on each other's advice to achieve the end goal correctly and safely. We have to use what we have learnt from past incidents to ensure it will hopefully never happen again. Everyone has to work as a team; if you can't do that, then this industry isn't for you, because things can go seriously wrong when not working as a team. When you have some time, look up the Swiss cheese model.

On the separate note of route development, as the others have mentioned, it's just too hard to say anything about future routes until it's nearly a done deal, and if I'm truthful, I think we will see a small decline in some airlines because of the margins, etc., and the incoming increase in air passenger duty.

Please lets keep things civil without any personal attacks.
To Ray’s post, I would like to add a gentle reminder that people from all parts of the world are welcome to post on the BHX forum, just as we are welcome to post on their local airport forum.

As for rumours, this is just speculation, but Indigo Airlines has held slots for BHX in the past and they are now serious about expanding into Europe.

At the moment its just the usual London, Paris etc, but it’s something to look out for from 2027 onwards, when they start getting their own A350s.

Hans Airways seemed promising as a potential long haul service but it obviously never happened. I'm somewhat sceptical of start-ups but obviously there's no guarantee that it'll work out with those that have been in service for decades, as evidenced by Biman falling through in 2014.

Indigo is the largest(?) low coast airline in India and Biman is the national Flag Carrier for Bangladesh and offer regular scheduled flight from LHR and MAN... neither are really comparable to a paper/start-up airline like Hans!

Indigo has been trying to get into long-haul for ages and now have this random opportunities to lease with Norse. A little sceptical and whilst they do have a base in BOM, their main base is DEL where i would hate them to go against AI. Lets hope AI pre-emptively increase BHX-DEL daily and indigo launch 3x weekly BOM....

...and i will now wake up from the land of make-believe!

As long as indigo don’t bring their cramped 777 I’m all for any route

let’s say they do go for BHX, from DEL or ATQ, they aren’t really doing much though, air India has 4/7 slots, so 3 weekly is the maximum they will be allowed to do. Unless they completely have a different direction and go for BOM, GOA or etc

That was kind of the point I was making. Start-up or national flag carrier, there's no guarantee things wouldn't fall through.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
