Stobart Air

I've read elsewhere that Groningen Rennes Dublin Lyon Caen Antwerp and Cologne are still bookable until March

Caen, Lyon and Rennes. Whether Stobart keeps them going? I honestly can't see them operating flights under their own name but it's been wondered whether they'll use Ryanair to sell them after March. They have been though advertising for E jet pilots in Dublin apparently so it's possible they'll shift to there.

Have also read the Dublin route has not been very reliable either. Have to see what developed !

According to Flybe's social media team the Stobart Flybe franchise Summer 2019 should go onsale in a few weeks time.

According to Stobart Groups half year results the Flybe franchise will end in March 2020. The jet routes will end in March 2019 and the ATR will carry on until they too end in March 2020. The Stobart Group lost £17.5 million in the first half of the year while Stobart Air lost £2.7 million and they blame the Flybe franchise for the loss.

Stobart Air Flybe franchise winter schedule 2017/18

After a blazing glory route announcement from a year back according to Routesonline the airline has scrapped the following routes (as mentioned in an earlier post):

London Southend – Budapest last flight 05JAN19, currently served 3 weekly
London Southend – Glasgow last flight 27OCT18, currently served up to 2 daily
London Southend – Manchester last flight 06JAN19, currently served up to 3 daily by Stobart Air ATR72
London Southend – Milan Malpensa last flight 26OCT18, currently served 4 weekly
London Southend – Prague last flight 06JAN19, currently served 7 weekly (4 weekly from 28OCT18)
London Southend – Vienna last flight 28OCT18, currently served 4 weekly

It's very disappointing news especially as it's from the Stobart flagship capital airport. I do personally feel we have an aviation downward trend taking place at the moment and this has been shown to be an excellent economic indicator of the wider economy. People can talk-up Brexit as much as they want but it is clearly starting to have an impact on the aviation industry and soon the wider economy IMHO.

I think 2019 could be a tight year ahead, the huge expansion from SEN has come at a difficult time for the UK. I must admit however its amazing how Southend has come from season Jersey flights quite recently to where it is now.

It can be regarded as a "London Airport" so international airlines (and pax) can be attracted.

Stobart have pumped in a lot of money into it and seem now to be reaping the rewards.

Caen is to be suspended for a short time in the winter but obviously doing well enough not to be dropped!

New routes announced from London Southend to Edinburgh, Belfast City and Glasgow are to be in fact operated using Flybe's own Dash 8-Q400's aircraft meanwhile Stobart Air will operate the new routes to Newcastle and Isle of Man using the ATR72 aircraft.

Stobart Air, which operates the Aer Lingus regional service, has said it is to reduce its workforce.

The company is to close its London Southend base and cut the number of staff it employs in Dublin and Cork.

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
