BHX also got some diverts from LHR. Presumably due to the heavy rain.

PS user001 - check your PM's.

Due to a fire onboard a Finnair E190 yesterday, they used A320 OH-LXM on todays FIN933 flight. Been a good year or 2 since we have seen a Finnair A320 at MAN.

Lufthansa A340-600 D-AIHP LH434 diverting in due to medical emergency.

TK1975 B737-800 TC-JVC IST-DUB has diverted to Manchester, presumably medical.

VS46 JFK-LHR B747-400 G-VFAB
VS10 JFK-LHR B747-400 G-VHOT
BA172 JFK-LHR B747-400 G-BYGB

All fog diverts from LHR.

Manchester's Palma bound Jet2 reg G-CELH is currently holding over the Peak District.

BA A380 G-XLEF operating BA282 LAX-LHR diverted in, alond with BA1385 G-EUOE ABZ-LHR due to fog at LHR.

This now means 4 airlines have sent their A380's to MAN (Lufthansa, Emirates and Singapore being the other 3).

Todays divert. Thanks to Michael Herd:

MAN has accepted 7 diversions from LBA so far today.

3xFlybe, 1xJet2, 1xKLM, 1xThomson and 1xAer Lingus.

Depending on Doncaster's visibility tonight, there is the potential for an awesome line up at MAN tonight, 2xAN124 and 1xAN225.

MAN is the alternate for the AN225 tonight, and staff have been put on standby for the flight.

No AN225 last night as it ended up waiting at Leipzig, but, MAN did take A330 MRTT ZZ333 divert from Brize Norton at 0130.

Emirates will send an A380 on the EK21/22 tomorrow due to EK18 being canx today

A pair of sea kings dropped into MAN today. One was on a patient transfer but had a tech issue, so a 2nd droppedvin to take them the rest of the way.

Add to the 3 A380's that have been on the ground today, quite a busy christmas day at MAN.

Re: Jet2.com

Sorry nothing more factual but I heard a tale that the French authorities at Lyon refused to allow the passengers off the plane until they had received payment for fuel. Apparently the passengers were held on the plane for 4 hours with no food or water and a broken toilet..... And a 25yo plane? Also heard the British embassy was involved in this???
Can anyone post a link to confirm this story?

Re: Jet2.com

What utter rubbish some people come out with. Held hostage by Jet2? Hardly a hostage situation is it? I wonder what demands Jet2 were supposed to be making, and of whom, before they allowed their hostages off the plane.

The article actually says that Jet2 cabin crew had no information so it doesn't take a genius to work out that keeping the passengers on board was not down to the airline. The unfortunate fact is that if an airport such as Lyon is suddenly inundated with passengers into their terminal who have nowhere to go (and in this case they didn't - being unable to fly to Chambery or go by road until the situation improved), then chaos would be the result. So with numerous diverts, all with passengers unable to go on to Chambery, they were clearly not going to be able to allow the passengers off until there was somewhere to send them. No doubt the intention was to keep them in one place until they could be moved to a hotel or on to Chambery. Neither were likely to be arranged quickly in that situation.

The whole things was one of those unfortunate weather related incidents, where passengers instantly blame the airline for situations that are not of their making. No doubt many will be seeking compensation from Jet2.

Perhaps the fault lies with airports? If they had a separate holding lounge area with dedicated gates, purely to accept diverted passengers until something is done to move them on, and without impacting on the normal terminal operations, then situations like this could be avoided. Hardly likely to happen though given the cost and the fact that their investment would be un-used for months, maybe longer, at a time.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
