yes lbaspotter...because lets's face it, if it's not in Yorkshire, it's not worth going!!

Keep the puns coming!!

Probably time for a serious update, or lack of as the case is. Not going to bote u with all the reasons but I have had to put things on the back burner for a couple of months so no further progress at all to report. Things are showing signs of settling down a bit now so looking to pick up on things. I dont want to do anything half heartedly and hence the last two months have been impossible. Equally nothing will happen until I am sure all i's are dotted and t's crossed. EIN as a poss? Not sure about the market on that one. From a cost point of view unserved donestic has to be the priority, keeping a close eye on any BE/T3 alliance and new routes. So in summary still a very very long way to go

Perhaps we have got to the "root" of the problem and it's good to see that a300boy "stokes" up some responses with his puns. Come on all, don't leave them all up to me else you are going to get "caught out"

Am I the third man to react to this thread? If others don't carry it on, I will give it the Bird!

Ladies and gents. Sorry to p**s on the party but this thread is becoming tiresome to read. Can we please leave the facetiousness to the experts (such as they are) and keep on topic ? Thankyou.

I think the fact that this thread has descended into such nonsense is indicative of the actual state of affairs.

As I pointed out on the route development thread, EIN is a total no go. Even the CEO has no interest in pursuing such things. And, I'm sorry to have to say this, as a leisure passenger, I would choose the £20 fare from MAN every day of the week. There is absolutely no point in wasting your efforts on trying to create a niche market that doesn't exist.

If you want a bit of real world consumer information, I have about 10 business trips to Bristol and a couple to Exeter lined up in the next 6 months that could all use return flights.

I'm waiting.

It would be a perfect start up route because the demand is there already but nowhere near that point anyway. In fact I have taken my "bat" home for now. Oh sorry we aren't allowed to make tiresome cricket puns are we! On a serious note, what is going on in the background will stay in the background and if and when proper progress is made then I shall post something more relevant as don't want the pessimists and doubters to have too much to thrive on. So if lousy puns are not your thing for keeping the thread alive than that's your perogitive but it's the best your getting from me for now whilst I keep any business thoughts and progress to myself for now.

I think the best thing - and only way - to keep this thread alive is for it to actually be reflective of a genuine attempt to add to LBA and to chart the progress that is being made. If you don't mind me saying, there has been no progress, ergo the thread has died.

Whilst I genuinely do hope that the airline takes flight and have even put my money where my mouth is by offering to be the first person to buy a ticket, if I was to use a metaphor for the thread, I would say it is an estranged father who sees his daughter once a month, takes her to an ice cream van, lets her tell the man what she wants and then says he has no money. We've all been given a glimmer of what's potentially on offer but are no closer to getting it. I enjoy a good pun as much as the next person but what I want from this thread is flights from LBA that I can realistically use, not flim flam. There is little point in blaming the rest of us for the thread having come to its natural conclusion.

If and when you have substantial progress to report, I look forward to its resurgence as, I'm sure, will everyone else. Until then, there are other areas of the forum that are more suited to Cricket based banter.

Whilst it is very tempting to get into a war of words with whoshotjimmi I shall to some degree refrain mainly because all his points have been covered previously, however relevant they may be. The main one though I will respond to is that at no point have I promised this would happen, only that I would do all I could to make it happen. I made no secret of the fact that money was the biggest hurdle I would have to overcome and remains so. He also seems to suggest that this should be up an running by now - does he not know what hurdles and hoops have to also be negotiated once finances are in place. That though doesn't stop an overall business plan continuing to take shape. He also seems to thrive on negativity which I can see has spilled over into the Loganair (Flybe) thread so I shall take his comments with a pinch of salt. Yes we aren't any where near lift off, however much we all may want it to be, but slow progress continues. And one final thing whoshotjimmi - if you knew the personal toes you have stepped on with your comments you may have chosen your words more carefully. In your defence though - we are all entitled to our own opinion as we do have freedom of speech. I hope a serious punless response is to your liking.

Please accept my apologies for this. I wasn't aware that the gradual loss of routes and airlines along with poor performance by the incumbents whilst the airport gets constantly slammed by the media amidst a tide of inaction by previous management was a positive thing. I'll be more positive about it all in future and put more emphasis on looking forward being a potentially loyal customer on flights to hinted destinations in which I have business. Please feel free to take those comments with a pinch of salt.

Not at all. Six months, a year, five years - the timescale is largely irrelevant when it comes down to it providing it will benefit LBA. I'm fully aware that these things take time and my comments are not reflective of a belief that it should be already happening. Rather, they are reflective of coming to the thread excited to see the progress that is being made only to see that it has become a place for people to do their best David "Bumble" Lloyd impersonations. As I have consistently said, I want it to be a success and I eagerly await good news about progress so that I can be the first to climb aboard.

And one final thing whoshotjimmi - if you knew the personal toes you have stepped on with your comments you may have chosen your words more carefully.

If that is genuinely the case then I do apologise. Whilst I don't think I've said anything that isn't true and my use of metaphor is an innocent descriptive tool, I appreciate that my writing style is very marmite and it takes a certain strength of character to take in at times. What can I say? I enjoy writing and I enjoy debate.

I hope a serious punless response is to your liking.

Thank you. Your candour is most refreshing.

But a bit of fun on a serious subject is at least a relief from the disappointments we keep suffering.
Even though our Jet 2 and Ryanair base is booming my over all feeling is we are loosing too much and need to do better.
I cannot see the new Dusseldorf operation being as popular as it is now with a Dash 8 and as they are Cat 2 only, we will have to see how it gets on during our foggy winter nights.
But it is better than no flights to Dusseldorf at all so lets allow the professionals to do their jobs and hope they get it right.

Flybe, Dash 8-Q400 from Dusseldorf will not have to fight either the early moring or late night fog? What with it been a non based operation it arrives Leeds mid afternoon, then departs 30 mins afterwards.....

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
