I read elsewhere that Air India plans to serve LAX and HOU this year. These airports would surely be close to or over the operational range of the aircraft they operate. Possible BHX stop/extension to existing routes?

With both they could go the Pacific way which they do for SFO with the winds behind them it's quicker though longer they then could return via the Atlantic route which they do for SFO as well.

Perhaps Jet Airways are planning a resumption of their US routes and using BHX as an intermediate stop with their new 787s? There was talk some years back of Air India doing something similar so it’s not completely out of the question.

Certainly fits the bill of an airline that doesn’t serve Manchester and one offering more capacity? New York, Newark and San Francisco were all served at one point along with Toronto.

I know they have the operation at AMS but perhaps they couldn’t get the slots?

Only logical idea I can come up with.

But with the 787s they surely have the range to make New York and San Francisco non stop with maybe doing SFO via the Pacific.

Indeed they do. However Jet's North American strategy in the past has been via a European station (currently Amsterdam, previously Brussels (and Heathrow?)).

I'm just trying to put the pieces together, I'm probably 100% wrong. Basically I think all bets are off!

It is a mystery. An airline that doesn't serve MAN (at least TATL wise) that could possibly scare away United, i can't think of many.

Is this just rumour, or have I missed something saying this is whats going on?
Just a rumour based on what has been said in previous posts. At the moment only a few people know what's really going on and they aren't saying at the moment.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
