Hi there Kevin, thank you for your post, it was a very generous words from you, my point and apology that I am trying to send to Aviador and yourself and all other forum members is that I don't want to be put in a situation, where by I'm in a no mans land and unable to verify my evidence, but also any posts that I send on this forum are not negative, but positive.

Firstly no apology is necessary. I'm usually the last person to be offended. I must be thick skinned because I wasn't offended by any of the posts.

One of the things this thread should be teaching everybody is we are all intitled to our views. We might not always agree with one another but we can and should at least respect each other's views. We also need to be mindful that not everyone is an industry expert, and even if you the reader are, doesn't mean someone else isn't allowed to share their views.

I really hope you don't leave us @andrew.clarkson but if you do, there isn't a process. Simply turn your computer off.

I should have also mentioned to those who feel they are bored if reading posts by certain members, you can ignore them by clicking on the users profile and by selecting ignore. This is the appropriate way of excluding members who you don't like, rather than being rude and by telling them to stop posting.

But it is all about airlines. Airports are no more than facilities for them. Airlines go where they think the business is. MAN and even more so, BHX, are unlikely to become hubs for an airline feeding short haul to long haul. Who cares whether growth at MAN or BHX is from tourism or business if the airlines are happy with their operations from there?

If you are invested in an airport and want to see growth above and beyond the demand to and from the cachement area of the airport you need to to be a hub.

The most successful airports like Dubai, Singapore Changi and Atlanta Hartsfield are making a lot of money from people who never leave the airport on the way to somewhere else.

Those cities are also able to grow on the back of their proximity to the resultant direct links, both from business and leisure travel.

BHX-MAD is a year round destination from BHX (well has at least been to date) so assume its just a case of the winter schedule is yet to be uploaded... only Winter Sun holidays seem to be loaded for winter so far.... very few year round city breaks for sale past october.... MAD/OTP/KRK/BER

Rumours on the internet stating PIA are proposed to resume flights to Europe and United Kingdom from June onwards.

PIA is up for sale so I wonder how that will affect plans. Interesting that they plan to make CDG their European hub. So, given the shortage of suitable aircraft, PIA metal landing back in UK may be some way off.

So with anything to do with bhx .
There are slight rumours of Hainan Starting at bhx however very.Might be ur typical Manchester or London that gains flights

Just come back from China (Shanghai).

It strikes me that China can be a bit difficult to get into and get about, and to be honest you don't see that many Europeans there at all.

By this I mean you have to have a visa to get in. There are various short term visa on arrival arrangements if you transit through a 3rd country on your inbound or outbound leg though.

This makes me think Cathay would be able to provide a much more effective hub for China through Hong Kong, alongside more tourist demand etc.

for uk passport holders, why would the entry to china issues be any easier if flying to hkg first rather than direct?

Because of status HK has as a Special Administrative Region (SAR). Obviously UK residents don't need a Visa to get into HK, and due to China's desire to absorb HK into China has removed barriers to movement between the two...

yes i am aware of the entry requirements to HK.

i don't understand why it is any easier for a UK passport holder to go to HK first then on to China as opposed to going to China direct. the entry requirements for a UK passport holder for China are identical in both situations.
