I don't normally join the guessing game of new routes etc as it can enter fantasy land at times but with the imminent demise of the Brussels route an obvious gap in the market to Belgium opens and Charleroi maybe a possibility for Ryanair particularly as they already serve it from the UK. Charleroi is good for both Brussels and Bruge with the latter a superb and popular destination for a city break.

I believe this route would muted for a new Ryanair route but nothing seems to have materialised. Agree its an obvious gap in the market we should be able to fill...

Interesting that WestJet are serving Cardiff, surely there’s potential for BHX to Toronto or is it the classic squeeze?
..its a classic local govts buying in/subsidizing new routes... will never happen in England, but Scotland and Wales are a lot more willing. I think the YYZ-GLA is better, but YYZ-CWL would never even be humoured if it wasn't for the Welsh Govt

BHX carried over 1.3m Pax in October. In the last 12 months, CWL has carried just 0.9m Pax.

WestJet serve Gatwick & Heathrow too so it's not just Scotland and Wales.

Different proposition to BHX but still.

BHX had regular seasonal to YYZ back in the day. However, they were operated for tour companies, and involved several Canadian carriers.
I believe there would be a market for regular scheduled flights, but it seems unlikely for now.
Cardiff is having a lot of money pumped in to attract carriers, and to revive it's fortunes, by the Welsh Assembly. That won't happen here at BHX as we are not classed as a London airport!.

Sorry to be a bit pedantic but its Senedd Cymru/Welsh Parliament and the money comes from the Welsh Government its owner not the parliament and also the route is aimed at attracting inbound tourism into Wales from Canada.
But question here isn't BHX 50% owned by the local councils? Doesn't the West Midlands have a mayor authority who could possibly look at investing in routes like this for inbound tourism purposes?

Any more route rumours from wizz or jet2 incoming for next summer.A return summer for vueling?

Surely if we have these extra stands there’s more capacity we could have.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
