Air Canada was around 1988 and routed YYZ-MAN-BHX. Dont think you can rely on them coming back as i dont think their fleet size enables them to add too many services.

Canada seems to be dropping off the radar for many people these days. Don't understand why though.

A large part of the market was visiting friends and relatives but that market is dying out literally so demand is reduced at BHX we had Wardair 747s, DC10s and A310s at various times back then as well as Air Transit later but times change as time marches on for all of us. Visited once to see Niagara Falls fantastic natural spectacle.

Sorry to be so cheerful?

Eastern Airways back on BHX-NCL ??
I think there are a few business travellers who might appreciate it if they returned - I heard someone describe the Birmingham-Newcastle rail connection as a real pig.

Up the road at Manchester it looks like Norwegian and Vueling still hold slots for several sun routes and certainly Vueling look like bringing MAN-FCO/ALC/TFS as seasonal routes.

It's a real pig full stop to get to Newcastle - road or rail. That Eastern air flight was very expensive though at about £250-300 return. Fine if the companies paying, but for individuals, rather prohibitive. If Flybe or another loco could come in with some competitive fares I could them doing some serious business on that route.

Nothing will probably come of it and even if it does then it will most likely be to London but the MP for Slough, Tan Dhesi, has held talks with Jet Airways about flights from Amritsar to the UK. Apparently Jet 'listened intently' and 'requested further information'.

As said, it will most likely be London but a nice BOM-ATQ-BHX-ATQ-BOM wouldn't go amiss :)

Ironically if you transpose Tan Dhesi and Jet in the above sentence you have a typical conversation with an MP about anything.
I think you knew that when you started with"Nothing will probably come of it"

Every little bit helps the cause, as they say.

On the down side Indian airlines share the same ideology as the Chinese and you all know
where that left us... Here's hoping for a breakthrough in 2018....

Are there any rumours going about about increasing BHX to VCE?

It kills me to have to travel via Brussels.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
