Looks like bhx are going to lose 3 airlines
Vueling-Jet2 increases the Barcelona route next summer potentially Ryanair and EasyJet.

Blue islands -EasyJet have basically boiled them over with 2 weekly A320s and Lack of aircraft

frustrating but most known and expected...

Vueling - BCN.... 3 other airlines serve this route, all with greater brand awareness in the UK than Vuelling. Jet2 always going from 2-4x weekly, RYR matching the 8x weekly of this year and i would expect Easyjet to increase capacity on this route depending on how much they grow the BHX base next year.

Brussels - BRU.... frustrating btu they airlines is struggling post covid. BHX cut, EDI reduced. very accessible via Amsterdam but defo one for RYR to consider...

If Brussels has gone then I'd suggest it's very unlikely we'll see Austrian anytime soon. Lufthansa will likely prioritise Frankfurt and Munich hubs and hopefully the yields on Swiss will keep them going. I think BRU has been struggling for a while, maybe we'll see Ryanair open Charleroi.

I dont think the Brussels flight operating mid afternoon was partically helpfully, maybe a morning departure with an late evening arrival, ie aircraft night stopping might have worked better, allowing a days business travel, and lets face it the A319 is too large for us, and who know what the cost is for them wet leasting the Air Baltic A220's?

I also wonder if Jersey could be better served by Loganair on a E145 daily? As Blue Islands and Loganair have ended the code share agreement now Loganair are fliying Southampton-Jersey, it might be a possibility, aircraft could route ABZ-BHX-JER-BHX-ABZ

I think Vueling is a classic case of careful what you wish for….they’ve been operating BCN for ten years but have pulled out now EasyJet have come along and Ryanair have upped frequency in response. History has told us that four carriers on the same route doesn’t work out (usual holiday hotspots aside).

Disappointing, but not surprising. Same with Brussels really, I didn’t think they’d be back this summer to be honest. They should have kept the Avros.

Vueling and Blue Islands are old news posted on here previously.

Brussels timings never gave it much of a chance really and demand on the Channel Islands routes is a shadow of years gone by.

Barcelona is repeat of what happened with Madrid when we went from four I think to zero for a while although I'm sure Barcelona is a more resilient route.

Really worrying times I think but maybe I’m being dramatic.

Vueling 7 weekly-Not here for winter
Brussels 6 weekly-Not here for winter
Blue islands 5 weekly -Not here for winter

3 airlines probably stuffed by low cost especially easyJet.

I really don’t know what to expect next summer

BHX has overcome the loss of three major players in Monarch, Thomas Cook and Flybe in the last 8 years ( around 30 based aircraft) along with loosing all its North American routes bar Florida which ends this year plus others along with the effects of covid.

Despite this passengers will hit close to a record 14 million this year and furthermore the airport is predicting and planning for an additional 1 million extra passengers per annum for the next five years.

Markets, airlines and routes have regularly changed always will and I much prefer the BHX management's informed view of the near future after all its their job.

As an Addendum to the above the expansion on the freight side over the last 2years has been an extremely pleasant and welcome suprise bringing additional revenue variety to the airport.

Three widebodies today including yet another iconic 747 - make the most of them.

Have a feeling Ryanair will have a big year next year and apparently O’Leary wants to base more RUK aircraft in the Uk due to high tarriffs in the EU so I feel Birmingham could have a big year for that.Who knows they could operate Morocco,Belfast Copenhagen.

Wizz Air Wonder if they will expand there presence known at bhx.We don’t know what’s happening but I’m quite optimistic about their future at Birmingham

EasyJet they will only expand even more.I hope we see 3 new routes next summer on maybe Porto,Agadir and Copenhagen?

Anyway let’s get winter out the way

How many airlines are we in talks with?

actually why does it matter?, I would expect the airport to be talking to at least 20+ airlines on a regular basis, doesnt mean that they will all suddenly decide to fly out of Birmingham, this information has to be confidential, else other UK airports might muscle in and offer a cheaper deal and pinch them off us!! I dont think anyone on this forum would know all the airlines being spoke too, and isnt it more exciting if i new airline announces new flights, that we know nothing about, more of a surprise that way!!! (y)

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
