Given the Jet2 news it will be interesting to see the reaction from Ryanair and possibly Monarch.

What are the odds for Ryanair bringing back Reus and Gerona?

Well Ryanair have talked about Italy, Greece and Germany. They are not stupid, similarly to our rumour mills, they probably knew there was something afoot with jet2 ...tomorrow/today's announcement is unlikely to be a shock to either monarch or Ryanair to my mind and I thing RYR suggestion of a focus on the above, and MONs suggestion of a move away from holidays and a refocus on city routes (also RYR) is testament to that.

Some very interesting and exciting times ahead. Assuming winter spring at mid-40s rotations increasing to mid-50s in the summer Autumn, that equates to circa 1 million additional seats for BHX per annum! Hypothesise that in the same month we could get new aurlines such as Delta, Finnair and more, new routes from. RYR, MON and BEE, and increase capacity from either/both or new from EK, QR or EY, then I think 2017 could easily be looking at 13m+ pax ....

'This guy has the right idea. (y)'

A great effort and very interesting. Suggest that it is sent to Mr Kehoe if not done already.

Also very curious to see what Vueling will do up there, I thought PMI would have been next in line to be added from them

Hi there ray and all, excellent news about Jet2, now we're just waiting for delta, Finnair and thai airlines, plus a few others that can follow and join the club like Virgin, quantas..we will hopefully just have to wait now and see....Andyc

Steady on Andy one at a time !!!!

I think one or 2 of those may follow but I'd take Virgin and Qantas off your list !!!!!!

Hi there paulsstrange, so if we're going to leave off Virgin and quantas, are we now hopefully going for delta and Finnair and thai airlines instead.. Andyc

No idea.... I hope so but who knows to be honest.

Let's take it one at a time. Jet 2 today is an amazing announcement let's bask in the sunshine of this for a while first

Forget Virgin, for the foreseeable anyway. Qantas have everything sewn up with their Emirates code shares.

Delta I've heard is close but like I've said it's a rumour and until we hear something from an official source it should be treated as such.

Finnair - See Delta.

As posted before, Thai have been to BHX several times in the last few weeks.

BHX have also been rumoured as speaking to Singapore. I asked them myself and they said that as BHX is wedged between two already served cities they were not looking to fly there at the moment but there may be 'interest from one of their partner airlines'. Scoot have said that they are looking to start flights to Europe and could potentially be the perfect fit. One to keep an eye on.

Hong Kong Airlines, Westjet and Rouge are all targets.

There is also another long haul airline rumoured but I'd be amazed if BHX could pull it off. I'm not holding out much hope but it sure would be a spectacular catch if they could do it.

Lots of work is being done in the background. Some will happen and some won't but they are trying.

It will be one amazing coup if BHX manages to gain the airline Ray is on about. They have been around to see the facilities. Meantime enjoy the Jet2 news.:)

Im pretty sure i know which airline this is but is it not for public
knowledge? Do the routes team not want speculation on this,
just wondering why the airline name is not mentioned?

Any hints? So people can make an educated guess? Though i notice Etihad don't fly in to BHX. Don't they have a codeshare with Flybe?

They do indeed, and it's a fact worth mentioning is that BHX is the largest airport in the world that is served by both EK and QR but NOT EY! ...#justsaying

Hi there ray , so what is the name of this non mentioned airline that I have been seeing other forum members mention... Andyc

Patience is called for I think. I don't believe that we should push any forum member into disclosing anything that they know or have a decent insight into particularly if they've have been asked not to divulge. It's a good way of blocking off information exchange in the future. What we need to do is use the airport and we'll see this column's list of new entrants expanding.

Totally agree. Ray, PM me the details and I'll stick that cheque in the post!!

Great to see the airport moving forward. Delta, Shaheen Air and Singapore would be great sights to see at the airport.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
