Virgin Launches daily Chicago flights

Virgin Atlantic Airways has launched daily flights from London Heathrow to Chicago O''Hare International Airport.

The carrier now operates to ten destinations in the US and 27 worldwide.

Sir Richard Branson, chairman of the group, commented that he is "thrilled" to be adding the daily service, citing the fact that Chicago is the third busiest business route out of London as a reason behind the decision.

He added: "Competition on the route between London and Chicago is very tough and we will definitely be giving our rivals a run for their money both in the air and on the ground."

Sir Richard said that Richard Daley, mayor of Chicago, played a part in the launch of the flights.

The mayor said that he was "delighted" that Virgin is offering daily services between the city and London.

New luxury bar for Virgin Heathrow lounge

Virgin Atlantic has joined forces with Grey Goose vodka to open what they describe as the world's best airport bar. The Grey Goose Loft at the airline's Heathrow Clubhouse (premium passenger lounge) was opened with a special set from DJ Pete Tong.

The luxurious bar is located on the upper deck of the airport lounge and offers Virgin Atlantic's Upper Class passengers a bespoke experience with professional 'mixologists' from some of London's best bars creating tailor-made Grey Goose cocktails.

The airline is 'a celebration of the best in new design with individual items of furniture created by some of Europe's most talented young designers.' Integrated into the design of the bar itself is a DJ booth where guest DJs will set the mood to accompany the cocktails on offer.

Noticed today on wikipedia that VS ends it's Detroit service on 25/3/2017 and will take over Seattle from Delta on the 26/3/2017.

I am booked to fly on VA's new MAN-SFO direct 333 next April - however I want to experience their 787-9 from SFO-LHR and then BA from LHR onto MAN.

I can do this itenary in one booking on the Virgin Holidays website. Would I have to go landside e.g. pass through security and check in again or is there an air side connections link from T3 to T5 if my trip is done as one booking?

From the 22nd December to the 30th December Delta Airlines will operate Virgin Atlantic's Heathrow to Atlanta flight with a 777 200er due to Virgin's ongoing problems with their 787 9 aircraft.

I suspect it will be a N.American destination that replaces Dubai or an increase in frequency on an existing route.
On the other forum someone said that it was an evening slot considering they are shifting Las Vegas to LHR i do wonder if they may look at Orlando either that or operate an evening JFK. Virgin do seem to be focusing towards the US more and more.

Unless they swap the landing slot at LHR with another flight I'm not sure what they could use it for. Virgin's Dubai service currently leaves LHR at 22:30 which is really too late for a Westbound flight - the flight wouldn't be landing until past midnight local time in the US. Any flights longer than LHR to DXB would also require the aircraft to have a lengthy layover.

Excellent! Please thank her for us.

My sister is now heading back to the UK with Virgin from Johannesburg on a 787 9 G-VOWS which is 2 years old. She enjoyed here time in South Africa and said it is a beautiful country and she definitely wants to go back there.
She sent me a few photos of the terminal at JNB so i thought i'd share them here.

49 trips undertaken last year. First done this year which was to North Wales where surprisingly the only slippery surfaces were in Conwy with the castle and it's walls closed due to the ice.
