I don't think that Prince ever really got the credit that he deserved for how good a guitarist he was. Sadly, we lost him at far too young an age. I believe that there was so much more good music to come from him, that sadly we will now never experience.

Here’s one for a music quiz, Prince did the opening guitar riff to this;

saw an advert with this playing in the background. Looked it up and can't believe it's well over 40 years old yet I remember it being released
As for the lyrics, they may have been written today.

Robert Plant - Your Ma Said You Cried In Your Sleep Last Night

Fridays used to be so much fun here. Now, it only seems to be me and thee. Hope you have something in your glass. I have, with a few 'top ups' lined up.

The 'scatchy' sound is on the original recording. Robert Plant said it couldn't be removed (not sure about that!), but adds to the sound.

From the same brilliant album - Fate of Nations - 29 Palms

With your excellent taste in music me and thee is more than enough for now but I do hope that others can join in 🙂

I got Malbec, Camden Hells and a selection of single malt so I'm set 🙂

Derek and the Dominos - Layla

With your excellent taste in music
Thank you!, although others may beg to differ. Likewise, you have an incredible knowledge and taste in music.

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Havana Affair

A cover of the Ramones classic, recorded live in Ireland and well worth a listen.

Much appreciated 🙂

What I like about this thread is that there is no right or wrong. We are all individuals and we all have our own tastes and I do hope that people can feel comfortable posting whatever it is they are listening to at that particular moment. Personally I love the variety 👍

The Rolling Stones - Jumpin’ Jack Flash

I once read a funny story, regarding this song. When working in Birmingham, we would often go to 'The Pie Factory' in Tipton (where you could get a 'Desperate Dan Cow Pie' - including pastry horns). They also produced their own newspaper, 'The Lark'. In this was a story of a US soldier in the showers at his base in Iraq, singing 'Jumping Jack Flash, It's a Gas Gas Gas!'. The other soldiers Heard 'Gas, Gas, Gas' and donned their gas masks. One failed to remove the protective cover, with the expected results. I'm sure it was all made up and no harm was done.

You have to be talking about the legendary Mad O'Rourke's Pie Factory? 😍

Nirvana - Come As You Are

The very same!

If you want a great day out, take the family to the Black Country Museum (BCM), then once you're finished, head over to The Pie Factory (it's only about a mile or so away). The kids will love it. Last time I went to the BCM, I went down a mine. We were given hard hats (and being 6'3", I needed one), which had a light fitted with a filter that mimicked a candle. I also had a go at 'legging' a barge through a tunnel. If you're not driving (trains run from New Street), there is even a traditional pub serving ales. Many of the buildings at the BCM have been moved there and rebuilt, brick by brick.

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
