I thought Gdansk was already served by RYR from BHX on Tuesday and Saturday, with early morning departures???
I checked on the BHX website and this service runs 01/04/14 thru to end of September.

WINTER 2014/2015 SCHEDULE LAUNCHED

At least some growth, abit not much.

Ryanair, Europe’s favourite low fares airline, has launched its Birmingham 2014 winter schedule, with 2 new routes to Gdansk and Kaunas and increased flight frequencies on 3 other routes, which will deliver over 1.25m customers per annum and support 1250 on-site jobs at Birmingham Airport.

Ryanair’s Birmingham 2014 winter schedule will deliver 2 new winter routes (Gdansk 2 x week and Kaunas 2 x week) and 3 routes with more flights (Alicante 3 to 4 x week, Bratislava 2 to 3 x week and Dublin 27 to 28 x week).

Ryanair celebrated its Birmingham 2014 winter schedule and 2 new routes by releasing 100,000 seats for sale across its European network, at prices from £19.99 for travel in June and July. These low fare seats are available for booking until midnight Thursday (15 May).

Ryanair’s Maria Macken said: “Ryanair is pleased to launch our Birmingham 2014 winter schedule, with 17 routes, including 2 new routes to Gdansk and Kaunas, as well as increased frequencies on 3 other routes, all of which are now on sale on Ryanair.com.

Ryanair are to use B737-400s on flights FR662/3 & FR3662/3,to and from Dublin starting from this Friday 20th June.
These aircraft will be used on these flights until September.
the aircraft have been leased from Air Contractors and Air Explore and are on the Irish register and Slovak(OM-)register,and are Dublin based.

Summer 2015 is now loaded, only three BHX based at the moment but alot more flights operated by away based aircraft. The only route not shown is Londonderry but it's been suggested that LDY are in discussions with Aer Lingus Regional so it could be that they'll be on the route next year. Malta remains despite them starting it from EMA.

The Ryanair press release says there will be 21 routes from BHX next year, we had 23 this year so if we assume Londonderry won't return then it leaves one other to be dropped.

Ryanair, Europe’s No 1 airline, today (9 Sep) launched its Birmingham summer 2015 schedule with 21 routes in total including Barcelona, Faro & Malta, which will deliver 1.2m customers p.a. and support over 1,200* on-site jobs at Birmingham Airport.

Ryanair’s Birmingham summer 2015 schedule will deliver:

21 Birmingham routes in total
91 weekly return flights
1.2m customers
1,200 “on-site” jobs p.a.

Just had a quick check of the timetable and it appear Reus is gone for summer 2015. I believe there has been some issues between Reus airport and Ryanair with Ryanair moving many flights to BCN so we may see an increase on that route.

I was reading recently that Ryanair is to use BHX again this winter to park up some 'resting' Boeing 737-800s. I often read that BHX is perceived as an expensive airport from which to operate.

Is there not a dichotomy here if FR sees BHX as the place to go (or one of them) to park its temporarily redundant aircraft?

Whilst the BHX runway charges and passenger load supplement are generally considered to be very high when compared to other airports, the parking charges are thought to be very low (the Hifly A310 operating the weekend MOD flights has been parked all week). It probably also helps that for empty positioning flights the standard runway charges are rebated by 75%.

I'd say Ryanair and BHX will have secured some sort of deal.

Ryanair are looking at 2 of the three EIR Shannon routes to take over, so that's possibly two out of BHX, BRS and EDI.

Can't see BRS being one of the two. Apart from anything else they have a Ryanair Knock flight in summer that never sets the world alight with its loads. SNN did handle nearly 100,000 a year when FR operated it to BRS in 2006, 2007 and 2008 but times have moved on.

With ryanair rumoured to be opening a new base at Munich Airport (MUC), will they be cheeky and give Lufty some competition on BHX-MUC ????

It would be interesting but I think Lufthansa have got Munich pretty much sewn up, their flights are often oversold and they have a huge amount of premium traffic to/from BMW at Hams Hall. Is there room for another? Monarch tried and failed.

Porto is in certain parts of the Ryanair website, I'm not sure if this is new or just a remnant of when it appeared a couple of years ago? The route has always seen good loads so it would be great to see it back.

It was said today that Ryanair are looking to increase their share of the German market from the 4% that they currently have up to 15-20% within the next four years.

The top brass of Ryanair were in Leeds a couple of weeks ago. There were suggestions of more German routes being considered from LBA for 2016. So it would seem a more widespread opening of German routes is being considered from other airports too.

I'm not holding my breath, BHX has seen next to nothing from Ryanair in the last couple of years and with STN, MAN and EMA being their top three UK bases it's clear where the love in is at the moment.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
