The Ryanair website has press releases for the new routes added to the likes of BFS, NQY, CWL and ABZ but nothing added for the new BHX-OPO route. Hopefully there is another destination or two still to be added before our release.

Kenny Jacobs specifically mentioned Italy and Germany as growth areas from Birmingham so we may see something there. Both have plenty of scope for more.

I'd hoped for another Greek route but given the spat that seems to be developing that looks unlikely.

But the general thrust of what the previous two posters have indicated is that RY offers very little from BHX. It's about time they added a few more destinations.

For years Ryanair were happy to just plod along a BHX and it's only been the arrival of Norwegian, Wizz and Jet2 that has given them the kick up the backside. And while most of the new routes have been launched in retaliation, the likes of Verona and Porto do offer a glimmer of hope that Ryanair are finally taking notice and perhaps thinking outside the box a bit.

Id also like FR to give Berlin Schönefeld a go in competition to Flybe at Berlin Tegal.

Given how strong Germany is for BHX, maybe give Nurenburg a go, as it's an unserved area currently.

Nuremburg would be a great one but as it's not a Ryanair base I don't think there is any room for it beyond possibly one or two weekly and such a route would likely require a higher frequency.

When the S17 schedule was first released there was an extra based aircraft, that was quickly changed with a whole host of flights now being operated by away base aircraft. Unless things change again we are pretty much looking to away bases for extra routes.

Berlin would be a good one and definitely competition for Flybe, another outside chance could be Bremen.

I think NUE is now a base, certainly an away based flight in the place that shall not be named.

Am I mistaken or have Ryanair added GRO from Monday 27th March we have had so many route announcements I wasn't sure if this had already been reported? The flight ops Mon, Wed and Fri with a mix of based and away based aircraft. Is this a response to Jet2? They had added EMA BFS and NCL amongst others too.

Yes mate.

As well as Porto Ryanair have also added Girona, Reus and Chania, all most likely in response to Jet2.

If they get the right deal then they'll base aircraft at UK airports. Michael O'Leary has already told Nicola Sturgeon if she cuts APD Ryanair will invest more in Scotland. If the deal is right they'll quietly forget about that statement!

From those reports read by myself and others, Mr O'Leary clearly stated that no new aircraft would be based within UK if said country voted to exit EU. A previous posting from myself referenced an article attributed to Mr. O'LEARY in the Wall St. Journal before the Referendum.

It follows that no new staff are required within UK to service the new additions to the fleet and furthermore, those aircraft being moved on may lead to redundancies in UK.

Ryanair is an Irish entity, thus an EU entity and is conducting business as a European entity.

This in aviation terms relating to BHX and other UK stations is a Brexit effect that may need to be included in the Article 50 negotiations!

And the UK represents a big chunk of it's buisness which Ryanair will not want to lose. If Ryanair takes it eye off the UK market because it's having a hissy fit over Brexit then other competitors will fill the gap. If for instance Ryanair withdrew planes from BHX then there will be another airline who will take those places ie Vueling or Norwegian or Jet2 or even BlueAir are examples.

I think the headline was that there would be no new aircraft based in the UK, rather than no growth from the UK.

When S17 was released there was clearly an extra based aircraft but that soon disappeared with the flights switched to away based aircraft. We've still seen four new routes and plenty of frequency upgrades for S17 so I don't think that we've lost out.

'No aircraft to be based in the UK for S17' is a nice headline grabber, whereas the reality is likely that growth will still happen, just with away based aircraft.

Changing track slightly Vilnius Airport is closed throughout July and August for runway works. Wizz seem to have moved many flights to Kaunas but Ryanair look to have theirs not operating, therefore no BHX-VNO for July and August.

Thing is, even MOL's 'no new based aircraft in the U.K.' Was slightly misleading, as MAN/GLA/BFS and other have got new based aircraft next summer!

Finally, Ibiza goes to 6 a week for July & August only on a based aircraft.

Palma up to 10, Alicante 12 again and Malaga 9 again.

Las Palmas Friday becomes based for 2 months so one less away based.
Still a couple of gaps to fill.

So back to 5 based again for the summer, for now.

As it stands we have 148 flights per week in July and August (149 if an 11th weekly PMI is added per the press release).

Each Ryanair plane has 189 seats, so 149 return flights would equal 56,322 seats per week

For S16 I believe we had 118 flights per week which would equal 44,604 seats per week, so for S17 we could have a whopping 11,718 more seats per week!
