Hi TheLocalYokel,

I am glad you find my post's on the Urban thread interesting and will continue to post stuff when I receive it, just didn't want it to become the norm that everyday I'm posting some photo of a crane/building :ROFLMAO:

I think the way forward for me on this forum is that I am going to come out of my Birmingham/BHX bubble and start taking more of an interest in other airports, I'm not going to start updating the big hitters on here such as LBA/BHX/MAN/BRS/CWL as you guys cover these airports but I will start updating the likes of EDI/GLA/BFS/STN even LHR/LGW have a poor following so I will do my best to update the forum with news about these airports.

Hopefully this will help me to continue to be an active memeber of FFA, rather than one just sitting on the side waiting for things to happen, I might be waiting a long time. ;)
I'm sure that everyone would appreciate that. As you say, some of the bigger airports in the UK have a relatively poor coverage in terms of posts, let alone some of the smaller ones. Let's also hope that events at BHX soon give you and others topics to discuss in the near future. I have no prior knowledge though.

Actually, a lot of airports, with some exceptions, are going through a quiet phase at the moment.

It was moved to the urban part of the forum several weeks ago. It acts as a link from the Manchester airport forum to the Manchester thread in the Urban forum where you can see the thread count. It is possible to sticky it if you desire but it's looking a bit top heavy with stickies?

I hope that every member of the forum will read this, so Aviador please place in a prominent place.

I have been having a problem with downloading one specific thread on the forum. I brought this to the attention of the "Mods" and within hours they were on the job. My particular problem is I am still in "Dick's Days" and use a relatively old Desktop Computer but they have still tried to help me(I think I am a lost cause).

This highlights what a brilliant forum we have here and would like to thank Spottie Dog and Aviador for their support although I would like to say that I would have received support from any of the mods.

Thank you. :):):):):)

I use an iMac desktop. The only mobile phone I have is a pay-as-you-go that I have to remember to use at least once every three months otherwise the credit is wiped. I found out the hard way a few years ago. I only have it in case of emergency when I'm out.

I've never understood the "Platinum Member" status, but if you upgrade to "I've upgraded to support F4A!" at a cost of just £2 per month then you will have no adverts.

I'm sure that Aviador will respond with more detailed information.

The difference between the upgrades are basically the users permissions. A basic upgrade simply removes ads. A premium upgrade will enable additional benefits such as anytime editing, adding post tags, unlimited file size uploads to the maximum permitted by the server etc.

A Platinum member is basically a tier of the forums street cred system. Somebody who has been a member of the site for sometime who has been "liked" many times will gain additional street cred.

All the above is constantly reviewed and changed as and when necessary.

As for the Advertising, advertising is essential and a necessary evil for us. No ads equals no forum as we don't receive enough through the subscriptions to pay for everything. That's why as a thanks for subscribing to support us we remove advertising and any annoying ad-block notices as an instant reward for helping fund the site. I have considered reducing the number of adverts for people who log-in but I can only do this if the revenue remains the same. I'm open to ideas.

What people need to understand is this is a hobby for me, as it is for most of you. I invest many hours of my time on the upkeep of the site. Upgrades and additional site improvements come at a cost. Our annual server fees are due in November at a cost of around £100pa payable to Brandin at Envesko Services. Ashley will also be carrying out some maintenance as our registration with Xenforo is currently out of date. Without this we lose Xenforo software support. Ashley is paid frelance for his time working on the software upkeep. He is currently looking at developing the sites own advertising management. If this becomes possible and becomes a used feature it may help us to reduce our reliance on Google ads and subscriptions in the future but this isn't guaranteed.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. The news items can then be shared on the site homepage by you. #TakePart #Forums4airports Bring the news to one place!
survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
