Virgin Atlantic unveils proposals to fly from Heathrow to Manchester Airport
The airline said a planned new network of 84 routes depended on 'slot allocation' at Heathrow's new third runway when it openswww.manchestereveningnews.co.uk
Nice idea but should perhaps read IF it gets a third runway

I suppose Liverpools hope of that is Flybe in the future.Obviously London and specifically Heathrow is a different case.

I imagine that eventually the Flybe routes will be taken over by a Virgin branded short haul operation even if Flybe is still the operator.Which seems now to be Virgin according to their latest release but it hinges on a 3rd runway there. God knows how long that will take !

United Airlines reveals 'potential' for non-stop Liverpool to US flights
United, one of the biggest airlines in the world, spoke exclusively to BusinessLive as it made a raft of announcementswww.business-live.co.uk
I think New York would come up no 1 in most regional airport survey's. There seems to be an obsession about US links. Going back to Liverpool if United were interested it would be imo as a market for US tourists. Not only do you have Liverpool FC in the city who are massive in the US you've also got the cultural thing with the Beattles.Interestingly a survey conducted in 2018 asking people what destinations they want from Liverpool, number one was New York. For United however I think Liverpool would be an attraction for passengers from the US in particular.
