Am due to fly out of Bristol for the first time on the 16th on an easy jet flight to Rome. Is there anything in particular to be aware of regarding car parking, check in and security? Have already booked into the silver car park which I wasn't aware until a minute ago was valet parking, was initially a bit worried about the thought of someone parking my car but I guess if anything gets damaged there can be only one person to blame!

The Silver Zone car park is on the southside of the airfield and passengers parking there are taken to the terminal by courtesy bus. They are quite frequent although there can be a wait of about ten minutes for one. There are car parks on the north side nearer the terminal including a MSCP that aren't valet parking but I think they can be a bit more expensive that the Silver Zone.

If you have no hold luggage obviously you can go straight up the stairs (there is a lift and escalator for those who want to use them) and self-check-in. If you have hold luggage easyJet operates bag drops. The area is clearly identified and there are always staff on duty to assist anyone unsure of the procedure.

I think the Rome leaves at lunchtime. That's outside the really busy period so there should not be lengthy delays at security.

BRS is a fairly simple one-terminal airport to use. Have a great trip.

Cheers, sounds fairly straightforward. Don't think I'll get to see much of Rome which is a pity as I'm going on a battlefield trip to Anzio and Monte Cassino. Haven't flown with easyjet for many years but seem to remember they were ok . Pretty sure they were using 737s back then, are they all Airbus now?

Easyjet are all Airbus. 3 models they use are the A320,A320NEO,A319 and the A321 neo out of Gatwick..You will have a good flight.

Back from my trip to Montecassino. For me Bristol is a nice place to fly from as its quite small and uncomplicated. Prefer walking out to the aircraft (in good weather anyway) as I like to see what I'm flying on. Flights were ok apart from the worst toasted sandwich I've had the misfortune to try to eat and the landing at Rome which was by far THE heaviest I've ever experienced. Felt a bit sorry for the aircraft as was only a few months old!

Glad you made it out and back. You would not have done today as the Rome flight and other flights to Italy were cancelled because of Italian industrial action.

Funnily enough the other day I compared the room at GLA with BRS, bearing in mind that BRS is now only 750,000 passengers per annum fewer than GLA. The one has masses of space whereas BRS is hemmed in on a constricted site surrounded by Green Belt.

I think they've done a good job with the limited space available. Since 2000 when the new terminal was opened it's been extended several times and plans are afoot to extend it even more, albeit a change in local authority control might now make that a much more difficult task.

The terminal is built into the side of a hill so that entry is at ground level landside, and after going up using stairs, escalator or lift to the first floor (that also has a mezzanine level) the exit airside is also at ground level.

I'd just seen the flight cancellations after going on FR24 to track my flight back yesterday. I was looking to see what the airfields were that we passed over. Saw 3 altogether. I'm guessing one would have been Hullavington?

Yes, thats the one. Absolutely disgusting. If I'd known what it was going to be like I'd have eaten one of my own socks instead

Yeah mine was like that. I found it a bit weird but still ate it! I think though i'll avoid it in the future.

I’m assuming you were landing on 27 , if so one of the other airfields would have been Colerne .The other one I’m not sure depends which way you approached from ?

Think the 1st one was a bit further to the east, probably closer to London than it was to Bristol.

Yes good call , it’s difficult to miss from the air , another option could be Kemble ?
