The LBA 'management' who approved the programme has gone. Go figure.

I watched part two yesterday. In total, I probably saw no more than five minutes of the programme. I kept pressing fast forward, it was that cringeworthy. What a wasted opportunity. Jet2 has definitely dodged a bullet.

I think I personally dodged a bullet twice while working at LBA. On one occasion I was asked to appear on some dating programme that was being filmed at the airport. I flatly said no chance. On another occasion while manning the information desk one evening I was approached by a well spoken couple who had arrived from London. They asked a passenger related question initially but returned to the desk shortly after to say I was perfect for a roll in a film they were making for the big screen. I said thanks but it's really not my kind of thing.

It’s a shame that these type of programs don’t concentrate more on the genuine hard working staff who do make the airport a success. The terminal services girl, Chloe is a case in point. Does her job with a smile, works hard and gets things done, but the program makers seem to want to focus more on the clown wannabes who would rather play up to the camera.

I bumped into a former terminal manager, who also thought that the show is embarrassing and makes the place look unprofessional. The word plonker also came up in the conversation, but I will leave you to work out who this was referring to.

I only watched the first episode. Is Nathan the duty terminal manager, who was repairing a door lock or something in that first episode?

He said that something (I forget what it was) was not his job. So what are the duties of a terminal manager? Isn't everything that impinges upon the efficient running of a terminal the reponsibility to a greater or lesser degree of a terminal manager?

Yes, he was trying to fix the auto door (exit from international arrivals) in the first episode. They then showed a clip of him saying that the flooded toilets were not his job at the end of the programme, but that was actually in the 2nd programme last week. What he obviously meant was that it is the responsibility of the cleaning staff to sort out the flooding in the toilet and presumably some plumbing trained staff (or contractors) to fix the cause (assuming the flood wasn't caused by some idiot leaving a tap on with the plug in!). Technically he may be right but as you said, as terminal manager it is his responsibility to ensure that the fix is done quickly and properly and so saying 'It's not my job' is not what you would want your terminal manager to say - particularly on national TV. All that said, and much as I find his attitude someone worrying for someone in his position.

I thought it was quite entertaining this evening.

Best episode so far in the series, portrayed the airport in a better light and no blanking out Jet2 names on aircraft and in the terminal. Love the angle shots in the terminal, makes it look far better and less cramped than it is, and makes it look much biiger size wise. My wife commented 'it makes it look as posh as Dubai International Airport', so hopefully will attract more passengers into using LBA.

I think they have found a second chuckle brother to go with Nathan...the security guy. Overall, far more professional informative apart from Bernard Cribbins digging holes in November taxiway.

I still find it interesting that they have leaned towards a comedic edge to this programme, right down to the camp security lad last night. Even the passenger refused boarding and the KLM medical emergency were light hearted. To be fair, I haven’t seen anything that would make you feel like avoiding it as an airport. In fact at no point have I got any uncomfortable sense of those ram packed departure areas with nowhere to sit, or that long drafty walk along the bus shelter. Lots of BA shots last night were welcome

I think this series is doing serious damage to the airports reputation. I dont think its any different from any other airport fundamentally, but the production company are making it look very 'Mickey Mouse'. The person 'ostensibly' in a senior position in security seemed to be more interested in personal hygiene than doing his job and passing light hearted comments about a passenger who was clearly unwell. Makes me cringe every time I watch it- and I'm getting some real 'stick' at work from colleagues!

Cringe is the right word, we caught up with the first three episodes in one viewing over the week end, if I took over running the airport tomorrow, know who I would fire first, even if it meant losing an industrial tribunal, money well spent.
I assume the airport had no editorial oversight, or did they see the rushes and realise David Laws had to go and wanted everyone to know why.

I suspect the deal would mean the airport had to forgo editorial responsibility to the production company in return for them agreeing to film.
A sort of 'Warts & All' or no deal scenario!

The last thing you want to see at an airport is un-professionalism. If you see just one example you start to wonder where else the establishment is being undermined. Haven't seen much of ATC yet and although I know better, some viewers must be wondering just how professional they are in the tower, maybe they make light, nip off to duty free to freshen up and turn equipment on and off to make it work!

I have to say though Chloe is a grafter and she is growing on me, in fact she is probably the only person of which I could say "they are a credit to the airport", so fair comment Seasider.

Hi everyone. I am new to posting here and an avid supporter at LBA, and did work at the airport for a time, and I have to comment about the TV series. I work in broadcast marketing and PR, and to have a series like this go to air to totally denigrate the airport in the way it has is scandalous. I watched all the episodes so far with friends and family who said they would fly from anywhere but LBA after seeing the totally unprofessional and laughable staff that were on camera. Come fly with me and the Yorkshire Airlines comedy sketch came to mind. I produce TV commercials and training videos to enhance the branding and image of many companies, and this series is a good example of how to destroy a good image of an airport week in week out. No management should have given the right for this to be aired, it has made a laughing stock of the airport and gives it no credibility whatsoever. I would like to know if this as been discussed at the consultation meetings, as it needs to be, and lessons should be learned that not every piece of publicity is good publicity!

I have two friends who a few years ago managed large events involving 1000's. The BBC turned up asking permission to do a documentary but with a bias. They were shown the door!... Maybe LBA management should have done the same. A poor programme can do much damage.

Not all the staff featured on camera are village idiots, there are those (the vast majority ) doing an honest day’s work with a smile in a totally professional manner. Such a shame, as the series could have been so much more and a real positive for the airport.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
