If there is a dispute about who caused the damage to the nose wheel on the BA aircraft recently at push back, BA management watching this programme will wonder if the airport management say all their staff are competent.
A Security Supervisor at 20 does not fill you with confidence, accept locks can be awkward, but you wonder how he would react to a ticking bomb. You cant see him clearing the terminal in an save manner, likely to use his phone to call for help, number one on the do not do list.

That is not how Leeds Bradford Airport works or any airport to be honest. The airport has many business partners and although the airport authority will have a say in some things, generally the way each company operates is down to them. There definitely isn't just one company operating at the airport as your post seems to suggest.

You seem to make part of your assumption that Conner can't do his job on the basis that he's not your stereotypical security guard. If you have a problem with your garage or shed lock you'd look like a bit of a plonker if you were being filmed struggling, it doesn't make you incompetent.

If Conner is a Supervisor he will be DfT Level 1 & 2 Security Trained to IATA and CAA standards. He will have a good understanding of the National Aviation Security Programme and Threat Identification. Personally, I couldn't care less if he can't work a lock if he can identify IEDs and other threats on a scanner.

Conner will be competent and accredited to the required levels and will be subject to regular checks. To be competent has nothing to do with age, how he looks, whether he looks at duty free for the cameras, or how he has been shown selectively in a tv show. Having spent the day being filmed with external audit, I can empathise that things you do day in day out can go out of your head. So the padlock situation without a camera crew would likely not happen - it was no doubt partly be down to nerves.

BA hasn't needed to see the program to be pissed off with the damage and the fact an aircraft was out of action for 3 days. The jetbridge now broken again on stand 8 doesn't help either.

Makes you wonder who at the airport signed of the series and if they were given a preview showing before the series aired on ITV? If so the person responsible has made a huge mistake and its going to take some time for the airport to recover from this PR disaster.

It just seems coincidental that it was the airport's ex CEO David Laws whom allowed the ITV cameras in last year, and he had left his position before the series was aired this summer....

I obviously hope that Connors qualifications allow him to be pro active in his role, but has he been tested for his reactions to stress and danger, its just not on the job skills that are needed. Psychology testing is I assume mandatory for this position.
I hope all Connors actions were done under direction of the film crew.

well the last episode was a revelation. It was almost like the management at LBA has seen all the criticism of the series, and said to the producers, now broadcast a really positive episode making the airport look good. I know it can t be the case, but it was a great advert for the airport and even the staff were much more professional and competent. If only the whole series was like this

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
