It would be a remarkable turn of events if VS gained the upper hand on MAN-SFO from TCX. It was only a few months ago it looked like TCX were aiming at 4x weekly and trying to drive VS off the route...

Rather than VS gaining the upper hand are they not neck and neck to maintain parity if both parties have now shortened their season ?

I'm hoping I'm missed a tread that suggests VS are expanding?

I thought an earlier post indicated that TCX were only 2 x weekly now to SFO for the early and end part of the season whereas aren't VS 3 x weekly for their full, albeit like TCX short, season.

Considering the media coverage when SFO was announced - Silicon Valley, great for business links etc. - flights only operating for 4 months (it was going to be 7) is particularly disappointing. The only thing you can say is that it's better than no flights at all, and there was some concern VS may not resume SFO (and BOS) in 2018.

If TCX are trimming long haul frequencies from what was expected, I take it we won't need 8 based a/c for l/h next summer. Will we still require 7?

Unfortunately, this is the inevitable outcome when two carriers slug it out on a route which is only suitable for one. Neither carrier can afford an extended season, let alone consider a long-term goal of year-round ops.

I have written to my senator asking her to refer the matter to the correct department and have them suspend the landing rights of the airline in Las Vegas until such time as they have enough representation in that city to cover all problems that may occur.”

I have sympathy for delays but that above is quite frankly the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard as the result of a delay.

Perhaps the good Senator's best course of action is to provide funding for more psychiatrists in Hebburn!

Well they seem to have referenced a lot of capital cities there. Including Paris, Rome and La Paz, it looks like on the map they have pin pointed several major capital cities. So i don't think it's them choosing London over Manchester.

They have just added the routes to a Generic European map.

Hardly see what's wrong with that? Certainly not worth getting wired up about?

Aside from that I don't think this is a big deal, the series of lines to destinations originates at a point in the UK that is MAN. The names on the map are just a series of capital or major non-UK cities I think.

I'm sure there are more eloquent ways to respond to an issue than using the "HUH" narrative but as the dice is thrown I'll respond hopefully using more civilised dialogue.

The infograph was on the TCX twitter feed with 29k of followers. It could however have easily ended up on the Facebook page where over 500,000 people follow the TCX account. I assume the Huh comment relates to a "so what" attitude and you are perfectly entitled to your opinion in that regard however I happen to believe that the infograph perpetuates the myth that certain airlines and routes are ONLY AVAILABLE from London. We have seen that highly biased and London centric attitude prevail in the media, and Westminster etc etc. So when Manchester's largest long haul airlines produces a superb map with all the destinations on it served from Manchester I personally think it's fair game to call them out when London is then "splattered" on said map adjacent to the epicentre of where the majority of routes originate namely Manchester !

Others may agree or indeed disagree , hopefully we are a broad church, each is entitled to their opinion but please let's at least argue using a degree of decorum?

This is an excellent forum and I for one would not wish to see it demeaned by inappropriate responses especially from members whose postings I actually value very highly.

Aces,

My reply of 'huh' was because you originally wrote your post without any link or any point of reference as to what it was you were actually talking about.

This was your Full and entire post at the time of my reply:

Very disappointed with this.

A Thomas Cook infograph clearly indicates the main exit point from the UK is Manchester but bloody london is the city referenced.

As you can see, I had absolutely now way of knowing what it was you were on about as the latter part with the Twitter link was added after my reply, hence the 'huh?'

So lets just reign it back in and calm down a little shall we?

Okay this is very un-Forums4airports as we are normally a very friendly and helpful group.

Fortunately, as a moderator, I can see when changes have been made and User001 made his one word comment at exactly the same time as you, Aceshigh, were editing your original post to include the link.

Can we therefore please revert to our normally warm and friendly way of life?

Thanks

Colombo and Aqaba

The schedule for these are starting to show in the GDS. They look more like the ad-hoc CPT and MRU services rather than regular weekly services:

01OCT18-28OCT18 MTWTFSS MANCHESTER /COLOMBO
17OCT 17OCT ..3.... MAN CMB 2045# 1205 MT3702 332*C

01SEP18-28SEP18 MTWTFSS MANCHESTER /AQABA
20SEP 20SEP ...4... MAN AQJ 1155 1915 MT3704 332*C

Had a feeling CMB would be just a cruise flight. I assume that's what Merida would be if it ever made it to the schedules.

As for why TCX had Manaus listed as a destination at one point, well, that's a trickier one!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
