With 649 signatures already on the petition, that would make it larger than the 647 followers on GALBA’s Facebook page. All within a week!

Fantastic work by all so far, but still a long way to go!
Disappointing today. Since your post at 1013 this morning just 10 have signed. We now have 659 at 1730. Let's hope a few sign up this evening.

..and I read today that LCC wants to scrap ring road improvements and spend the money in Leeds city centre. No doubt on more cycle lanes.

This country is well and truly shafted.

Well Leeds is. Our Council is a joke. Even Doncaster Council gets more done these days. This is what happens when environmentalists take over the planning department. The Labour party is behind much of this. God help us if they win the next election.

The argument there then is why does Labour controlled Leeds council behave the polar opposite of Labour controlled Manchester council with so many key decisions. I know Manchester airport is in Cheshire but Manchester council is still a major shareholder and key decision maker.

Simply the quality of Executive and councillors at Manchester who decided to drive it to be the best City in the North. They chose bold and driven entrepreneurs to be their chief execs ( eg Bernstein ), and it showed. We chose Tom Riordon a career public sector bod who previously worked at the now defunct public sector quango Yorkshire Forward!.
Whilst Leeds equivocated about trams going through Headingley they simply built them. They now have a fantastic infrastructure and therefore the ability for commuter housing developments to be built around this infrastructure. Leeds has poor connectivity and a housing plan that keeps building swathes of houses without the public transport to facilitate this....Leeds' answer to this massive commuter congestion issue due to lack of public transport.....cycle lanes.

Bold decisions have to be made for the Leeds City Region but I fear it is now too late...we are miles behind the City of Manchester.

Only 6 more signatures so far today. I do hope there are many that just haven't got round to signing. I will wrack my minuscule brain to see if I can find anyone else to share the link with

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
