Bristol Airport recruiting fire fighters to join team

BRS_FAR.png

Bristol Airport is looking for people who can work as part of a team, have different strengths and experiences, are self-motivated, with good levels of fitness and stamina and able to work under pressure. No previous experience is necessary as all training will be provided through an extensive on-the-job training programme, it is all about your character, ambition and desire to build a career in the fire service. Our crews are diverse, we are interested in people from all walks of life.

The role of a Bristol Airport Firefighter is not what you would expect. Despite its name, it is not all about fighting fires. Whilst responding to emergency situations and requests for help will be part of the job, being a fire fighter involves so much more. The role is more about prevention and readiness than actually fighting fires – emergencies are rare but can be intense when they happen, so being prepared is everything. You’ll spend a lot of time learning, studying and taking part in drills and simulation exercises, equipping you with the knowledge and skills you’ll need to be able to respond confidently and correctly when it counts most.

Debbie Hartshorn, People Director, Bristol Airport said:
“Our fire fighters come from a variety of backgrounds such as teachers and builders so bring with them different skills and experiences to strengthen our team. Being a fire fighter at Bristol Airport means being part of the Bristol Airport family, working in a supportive environment, being proactive and meeting high, professional standards every day. If you are looking for a change of direction, enjoy learning and value teamwork then we would love to hear from you.”

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
