easyJet Europe Airbus 320 OE-ICT is enroute from Paris Charles de Gaulle and will soon make her first LBA visit. This airframe first appeared at LBA on 25 May 2015 when operated by Monarch Airlines as G-ZBAS.

Eastern Airways' Embraer 170 G-CMLI will position in from HUY tomorrow to pick up Leeds United FC and transport them down to SOU, ahead of what hopefully will be a victorious trip to Fratton Park, Portsmouth on Sunday lunchtime. No doubt the same, or a similar aircraft will bring them home late Sunday afternoon.

Provided the aeroplane isn't really, REALLY needed to fly from Newquay to Gatwick!

Eastern Airways will be positiong an E170 in from MAN at 1655 this afternoon, which will become the Leeds United team bus for their match at QPR tomorrow lunchtime. It will depart to LTN at 1750 or thereabouts. No doubt it will be back again tomorrow evening.
Excuse my ignorance but why don't they use LCY as its only 14 miles from the QPR ground, Luton is 35 miles away? On paper both City and UTD should win but who knows?.

LCY is closed for 23.5 hrs from 13.00 on Saturdays with reduced flights allowed over the rest of weekends.

It's a bit perverse in a way as the airport is designed to directly serve the City of London the financial capital of Europe which is pretty much the ultimate 24/7 business on a global scale.

There's no Eastern departure to Leeds from Luton scheduled today nor any arrival on the LBA board, so it looks as though LUFC are on the bus home from QPR. In fact there's an Eastern E170 positioning flight from LTN to CWL so it looks like that's probably the aircraft used by Leeds yesterday.

Most offices within the City do not operate on weekends and the London Stock Exchange is not open for business on a Saturday or Sunday so that fits with LCY’s operating pattern.

LCY has weekend flight restrictions I believe.
Im actually staying in the hilton hotel which is located right next to the LCY runway during a wkend in June as my folks and i are attending an event at the excel, so will definitely be able to check out the activity at LCY fri and upto sat lunchtime then from sunday afternoon once lcy reopens. With a 1500m long runway and 5 degree descent approach its certainly an interesting airport!
We looked at flying to LCY by using FR from lba to DUB then BA from DUB to LCY but sadly there is no late evening FR back to LBA in June so the connection time between BA and FR in DUB was too tight.

Hi, I was born and lived in B36 for a long time - Lindale Avenue, just around the corner from Hodge Hill Comp.
I just noticed your postcode on a post.

Do you still live in the area?

49 trips undertaken last year. First done this year which was to North Wales where surprisingly the only slippery surfaces were in Conwy with the castle and it's walls closed due to the ice.
