Following our note last month, I wanted to get back in touch to update you on our progress.



On Friday, we launched an exciting element of our campaign to modernise how we manage night noise at LBA.



We have launched a dedicated website (www.supportlba.co.uk) to explain, in plain English, exactly what we are proposing and why it matters. It includes a short animation on our proposals, a Q&A document and a mechanism to register support for LBA via the planning team at Leeds City Council.



We have also launched a social media campaign to promote the website and harness the support of the many people who regularly use our airport and who have commented and liked articles and posts about our application over the past few weeks. If we want our airport ecosystem to thrive and prosper and in turn the people, families, businesses, and communities LBA supports, then this support needs to be registered.



We are currently planning an event to launch our independent economic impact report, which sets out in detail the employment and economic benefits our proposals are expected to deliver for West Yorkshire and beyond.

A good move but they don't mention the contribution those working at the airport can make. They could make a huge difference.

It doesn't but I can assure you they have been asked to add their support. That was confirmed to me this morning.

They would only be able to approach employees of service partners or airlines with approval or ask the employers themselves to do it.



The LBA video with the link to support LBA was posted on Blue Sky Aviation FB group on the same day it launched. Despite having over 2,200 on that group, a grand total of 10 have 'liked' the post, of which at least 2 are prominent on here, so really that is 8, and there isn't a single comment.

Members sit for hours watching Nick and Tom do brilliant live streams from LBA, yet there seems to be a total lack of interest in a matter that is vital to LBAs future.

I just don't get that mentality. Surely there are others on here who watch those streams and could post about this to keep it in the members faces?

Sometimes I think this region gets exactly what it deserves because there are so few who are prepared to stick their heads above the parapet and support it. All talk, no action sums it up nicely. It isn't just on Blue Sky Aviation either. It's just the same on other LBA groups.

LBA mentioned to me this morning they are disappointed with how little reaction there has been to their video, which I imagine cost a few bob to produce. I am sure the absence of reaction is not indicative of opposition. It indicates ambivalence and a 'it'll be reet' attitude. Then, when it is refused and nothing changes, there will be complaints about not enough airlines, not enough routes, too expensive, old noisy aircraft and the rest.

It must be a Yorkshire thing to leave it to others even when LBA has made it so simple. I have forwarded it to quite a few people. Well under half have replied, even though I know they are supporters of LBA.

I agree its a selfish attitude, all take and no give.

Im surprised Nick at Blue Sky hasnt pushed it more. Not only is he an enthusiast, but he has a vested interest in his YouTube channel.

I prompted the LBA Spotters (LBA) yesterday and another ten or so say they have made submissions but thats out if 45,000 members. Its a shame they dont actively prompt members.

The airport must be disappointed in their own employees, their contribution could be massive.

I will keep doing what I can.

Not even sure its a Yorkshire thing as DSA seem to have thousands voicing their approval of reopening the airport when ion reality they haven't got a cat in hells chance of that happening, and if it does open with a massive influx of council money will be shut within a few years. LBA on the other hand is a prosperous airport as 4.5million passenger per annum shows and growing.

G**BA is determined to stop the growth of Leeds Bradford Airport and all other UK airports which are seeking to expand.​

It’s pretty obvious they all gang up together whatever their location to oppose any aviation expansion/change wherever it is.

The admin of that page a leaves something to be desired. Nothing more then posting a lot of BS, for clout and likes, similar to Chadwick of DSA. Thrive off the like.

the fact the reach of that page is massive and theyre not encourageing people to support LBA is beyond belief.

I have had 4 people fill it out. As mentioned above, people from around the country of G***A supporters will fill it out. We know this.

the fact LCC have approved this before (WITH THE NEW TERMINAL) and the successful clued, surely LCC & LBA know how bad it looks to keep LBA at a disadvantage to the rest of country. with DSA trying to reopen and no doubt have the same flexibility as other airports. Surely LBA can object due to competition law / unfair advantage anyway?

Maybe they are concentrating on the opposition before flooding the portal with thousands of suppprt declarations?

It’s obvious though the council have not updated the portal with the email submissions, maybe they have that many there email system has crashed

I emailed radio Leeds last week over there story about the people cuddling there teddy bears and been up all night counting planes( not sheep)
Obviously I had no reply so have gone in just now guns blazing ( not expecting a reply) asking them why they are not running a counter story and that I pay my tv licence (for now) so I expect them to be impartial and tell both sides of the story.
If I get a reply i will let the group know

It would be nice to see a higher supporters figure but you have to remember, this isn't a poll and nor should it be treated as one. The facts are laid on the table. The airport has a good case in favour of the council moving to a new quota system for night flying and night flying hours that match those at most other airports.
