It will certainly look mighty impressive when driving into the airport. I think its been mentioned before but an idea would be to have a pier extending out from the side of it roughly where the current bus shelter walk way is (as we call it)

They have plans to do that at a later stage I believe. But....that requires Planning Consent, and we all know what that means, and why therefore it's not part of this scheme.

I still view this as phase 1 with phase 2 being a shiny new check in hall to the left side along with a full length pier.

This picture gives a good idea of the size it will be as you can see how far the retaining wall travels, so im guessing the extension will extend all the way to the end of the wall?

It's supposed to be roughly the length of a football pitch I think. Not halfway yet from what I can see.

On the side facing the ramp the extension is slightly longer as there is what will probably form the first part of a pier and a boarding gate.
Looking back at the plans, it appears the concrete retaining wall also forms the airside boundary wall, so the currently constructed framework only covers around two thirds of the planned width. Only around 50% of the length of the terminal, but maybe 30% of the total length if you include what looks like the above mentioned pier.

To put it another way, what we currently see will house around three carrosels. The red line above in this plan shows the boundary wall, associated lift shafts and peir with one additional gate.

Missed opportunity for a time-lapse camera. Mount it on the tower balcony and upload weekly/monthly videos. You can even buy or rent them these days specifically for construction projects.

Not really possible. Pics need to be taken from the same position at fixed intervals to get any decent results.

Steel has been erected immediately behind the pax walkway, right up against the existing terminal, where the two will connect. Judging by footings in recent pictures, shouldn't be too long before the rest of the structure moves towards the apron and we get a better sense of the true scale of it.
