Doesn't seem to be their style does it? They haven't even formally announced that they've now completed the switch to the new scanners. Other airports have been plastered over the press . LBA tell us that they're publicity agents always submit good news stories but the media don't run them, reflecting their endless negativity about LBA perhaps. However, there's been nothing published either within the aviation media itself.

I can't help but think LBA are very much keeping their heads down at present and not making a fuss which may not be a bad idea with the lunatics out there.

I take your point, but the trouble with that is, silence merely emboldens those lunatics. I`d take the opposite course and let the world know the present and planned improvements, ongoing. I`d also get the dig in, that they were, in effect, prevented from building one of the most advanced, green, terminals in the country. If they want war give it to them. Their argument will fail first because its made of straw.
 
There should be unashamed promotion, pictures and everything else in the media showing what's going on, plans and progress and so on. That would simultaneously encourage passengers and the travel trade whilst saying to the doom mongers, 'B****ks to you, this airport is happening and expanding. Deal with it'.

I saw on another site, possibly BHX, that they were saying they had new scanners, that you could keep your electricals and 100ml in your bag but that they were unable to relax the 100ml amount themselves as this needed approval from elsewhere. DFT possibly.
 
The general public need to be told about the airport developments esp the juicy bits ie 100million to be spent, as this will to a degree get rid of the airports bad stigma. Inside the airport the public need to see large bill boards with the 3 stages of the 2 year development plan, im no designer but each stage could clearly be displayed perhaps in a dif colour to break it up and keep it clean on the eye.

Stage 3 apron expansion for the aircraft.
Come on LBA team, get it together, now is your chance!

Surely they are not scared of those of shall not be named are they? Or is it they want the CLEUDs sorting before going on the attack?

During a face to face meeting with the airport management, they told us they were constantly issuing press releases but the press weren't publishing them. Following the meeting we asked to be formally added to the press release mailing list. The Support Group has only received a handful of press releases since then and we have published all of them in our news section. During the same period, most other airports are issuing them almost weekly.
 
A year ago LBA stated that in due course, whatever that means, their architects would be drawing up plans for display within the terminal, AND a 'fly through video' for public on line ( and maybe in-terminal) viewing, similar to that provided for Project Sky (new terminal).

Presumably the intention to do this remains and it's a question of when rather than if. I will try to find out the answer to 'when' at the next meeting in early July unless it's already happened.

Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
