We all know the hate foren has for airports. Fingers crossed he’s given up on being an MP, he’d be a bloody crap one anyway.
Too good to last. The BBC, via our favourite correspondent on Look North, did venture into the subject of night flights, although the overall tone remained positive and still no mention of they who shall not be named. Perhaps they've switched allegiance to ITV?

He probably went begging ITV saying the pesky BBC wouldn't feature the group that shall not be named.

As usual, there are plenty of LBA haters showing their ignorance on line, making what they consider to be smart comments but simply demonstrating they haven't bothered to read the article, or watch the videos. Despite the new arrivals area all on the ground floor, one woman claimed she would never use LBA again because the escalator didn't work. Some folk are beyond help. Actually saying something sensible and positive is clearly beyond them. The joys of social media!!

I have seen countless comments on social media whereby people are moaning about the arrivals process needing to be improved and the "escalator". It appears there is a lot of misconception that it also contains a new arrivals facility and I think the airport would benefit from highlighting it more on their platforms with some better content.

A somewhat amusing post I read was that the KLM parked on stand 7 and the passengers were walked in to the old immigration, only to be walked out and bussed to the new one! I don't know how much truth their is in the story but I have found out that stands 5,6 and 7 are not going to be available to walk to the new building at present.

The outer corridor would lead you down the existing stairway and into the remaining part of the outside walkway however, I believe it is going to be demolished shortly in phase 2 and there is no lift.

I just arrived from Rhodes in the early hours of this morning and came through the new arrivals area. Massive improvement going through Border Control. A lot smoother and faster than the old one. The area with the conveyor belts is also a lot better, Took a while for cases to start flowing but I was very happy with the overall experience.

It will make an even bigger impression when belts 4 and 5 open. The space for belt 4 is currently being used by customs and belt 5 will be in the old part of the terminal when it's finished.

I've actually just left a group on a certain social media outlet as the comments were doing my head in. Endless moaning from people who haven't even been in the new building. It's clear they're not happy about the airport doing something that negates the need to indulge in their favourite past time- moaning about LBA.

It seems that unless the floors are covered in shag pile carpets, and the seats are softly cushioned high quality leather, and entry to the lounges are free with all you can eat snd drink, whilst bars are permanenly in happy hour mode, they will complain. Then of course there are the usual complaints about drop off charges, that damned escalator , and anything else they can think of.

The number of comments about seating is incredible. Seating that is comparable to seating in all other airports and which the commenters know from a picture is uncomfortable. There was one that said it must be uncomfortable because there’s a man stood up!

The seats look to be the same as those in MAN T2 and many railway stations around the country – perfectly adequate for the purpose they serve. A few hours perched while waiting to sit in an aluminium tube for 2 to 4 hours!

As for drop-off, there’s the well-known 1-hour free option with a short walk up the hill to the terminal. This will soon be much improved with the completion of the terminal extension’s frontage and landscaping.

Additionally, many people aren’t aware that electric vehicles can drop off passengers directly outside the terminal free of charge for up to 60 minutes.

Ignorance is bliss.

Congratulations. The so called social media is nothing of the sort. It is evil and should be looked into with a view to severely restricting it. You only have to look and listen to the media (no paragon of virtue itself) and almost daily there are examples of threats, (even death threats) issud via this so called social media.

It is just evil and something should be done about it. Sorry for going off topis. I'll try not to do it again.

Funiliy enough when I saw the CGI of the terminal I realised it was going to be the same style seating as what's at Leeds City Station. I made a point of sitting there a few months back before catching the Ilkley train and do you know what, it was actually quite comfortable, supprisingly comfortable actually.

Just waiting on @LBA4EVER to ask for longer benches!

The airport should have consulted with these people on seating! Lots of nice armchairs perhaps with Shackleton High Seats for those needing them, all lined up so they have a view of the planes. Its just not good enough to provide wooden slat circular benches around planters and rows of plastic or metal boom seating. The wood and metal is too hard, the slats too far apart and what if you get a seat without a runway view? These are clear failures. As for the boom seating, you could end up sitting next to someone else that you don't want to sit next to or facing completely the wrong way, forcing folk to turn round to see the runway or even the departures board. Maybe I should complain at the next ACC?

Maybe not!

Honestly, some of the people on these groups, which are SUPPOSED to be airport supporting groups (clue's in the name usually), are just embarrassing. Never happy unless they've got something to complain about.

Whatever you do WH do not look at the comments on the latest video LBA has put on its Facebook page in the last few minutes of arrivals on Facebook (which looks really excellent by the way). It wouldn’t be good for your health. One woman has written it doesn’t look any different 😂😂🤯🤯

Too late. I read them, and saw her stupid comments. I did consider recommending specsavers, but in the end couldn't be bothered and went for my shingles jab instead. I'm not reading any more though.

Its astonishing the vitreol that LBA generates, although I know it's not unique to LBA. Perhaps these comments are all generated by the group that can't be named or Friends of DSA, or both. It feels like there's an organised anti LBA response to what should be good news.

Looks great IMHO.

The seats look great too. I'm sure they're actually used at other UK airports these days. I'm sure I've seen them at Gatwick or Stansted, maybe someone will confirm.
#LBA #REGEN

Not wanting to detract from what is still a momentus occasion. A very minor constructive criticism - if you want to call it that.

I've seen posted somewhere that you have to go through doors to get to the new building from the existing departures. Surely these aren't staying? I imagine they might be fire doors but wouldn't a fire shutter be more appropriate in this instance if it is a necessity.

About that escalator…. 😂😂😂😂

The more vitriol & anti LBA comments particularly from our friends in South Yorkshire to me proves that LBA are going in the right direction……🤣 They see very little if any progress on their beloved airport and certainly no sign of any private investment in the foreseeable future and even they can see the impact the changes at LBA have on any chance of their airport ever succeeding - if indeed it ever does open to passenger traffic!
In other news LeedsLive have published details of some of the new food and drink outlets to be delivered further down the line at LBA https://www.leeds-live.co.uk/best-i...rd-aiport-welcome-new-31881811?int_source=nba

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
