What about Turkey and Canary Islands?

Not a problem either. Monarch, Thomas Cook Airtours/My Travel have all operated A321 to the Canary Islands and Turkey from LBA in the past and we currently have Wizz Air using A321Neo’s to Eastern Europe

As I understand it’s Jet2 choice at the minute to keep there A321Neo engines de-rated.
I think when Jet2 base them at LBA they will be using them on a mix of short Med and longer runs to Greece, Turkey, Cyprus, Canary Islands and other routes .

You can gauranntee the air Blue A321 will be full of luggage so a heavy pay load to IST. I’m sure it will be fine. Hopefully the flights get put on sale soon.
Given that Airblue are supposedly intending to operate from Leeds to Islamabad via Istanbul on an A321NEO you would have to assume that Turkey, and the Canaries are not an problem for the aircraft type but maybe for Jet2 as long as they operate with their Leap engines at reduced power.

The airport authority actually quote the A321NEO/XLR as being the aircraft best suited to LBA with the least operational limitations.

As you are most familiar with Cardiff, like Cardiff, Leeds has seen just about all the wide bodied types over the years but with some limitations depending on the destinations served.

I think the most recent wide bodied aircraft I can recall were Onur Air A300 operating with full payloads to Turkey; PIA A310 operating with full payloads to Islamabad; Shaheen Air International operating A310 with full payloads to Islamabad and TUI under the guise of Thomson Boeing 767-200 operating flights with full payloads to the Mediterranean and Canaries.

Thomson also infrequently operated the 767-200 to Bridgetown and the with the 767-300 but generally via another airport for a fuel stop.

We have also had a Wardair DC10-30 non stop to Toronto in lieu of the usual 747 via BHX outbound and Business Air 767 300 to one of the Arab airports, operating a Haj pilgrim flight.

What about IPS…what aircraft did they use 🤣🤣🤣

Flew back into LBA in the early hours of Saturday morning during storm Amy. Noticed that jet2 aircraft were parked backwards on the apron (tail facing the terminal) whilst other airlines were parked the conventional way. Is this normal procedure? Never noticed this at any other airport.
It’s a procedure for Jet2 usually if the winds are above 30knts or higher that they’ll ’turn them into the wind’

Yes they often turn aircraft into wind when the wind speed is significant and have done for years.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
