It should have been then it would be the same sort of reliability that Eastern used to provide. Sorry I couldn't resist!

Seriously though it looks like IOS Skybus are very committed to ensuring the schedule operates so Jet2 may have sent a more reliable frame for what is apparently just for one day
I would think with Jet2 moving into Gatwick they would want to portray to the airport and potential future passengers the reliability one comes to expect from Jet2 and not have flights cancelled due to poor reliability of aircraft.

For info - I have friends on LS271 Alicante today. G-GDFO allocated to the flight. Half boarded and then they had to get off again due to “a fault”. They’re moving to another aircraft now.
Nothing new there with the 300’s, especially GDFO.

Good old GDFO strikes again. I can't imagine why this one wasn't sent to Newquay for Aurigny/Skybus duties!
Or Kemble.

I do not know why there is all this "animosity" with the B737.300's. There are 12 B737.800's that are over 25 years old, but nobody says that they should be retired.
I do not know the detail of the reasons why the 300 srs have gone "tech", but they could be something relatively minor but it has to be checked out.
Jet2 have been very good at the way they operate their fleet, so let's give them credit for what they are doing and the services they give us.

Another person on another site is questioning just how good the Jet2 maintenance is…or not as the case may be he/she/they said.

EDIT:
I apologise for using the word ‘it’……no offence was intended, sorry.

JET 2 PLANE MAKES AN EMERGENCY LANDING AT FARO AIRPORT

A Jet2 plane flying between London and Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands declared an emergency today and landed safely at Gago Coutinho Airport in Faro, a Civil Protection source told Lusa.

According to the Algarve District Command of the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC), "the alert was given by the aircraft commander at 10:24 am, and the aircraft landed safely at 10:47 am."

The Boeing 737-86N, with 179 passengers on board, had taken off from Stansted Airport in London, United Kingdom, and was destined for Fuerteventura, in the Canary Islands.

"In light of the commander's declaration of emergency, the Preliminary Intervention Plan for Gago Coutinho Airport was activated at its RED LEVEL, a preventive plan that defines and mobilizes various Civil Protection resources," the source specified.

Following the aircraft commander's alert, the air safety protocol was activated and the flight was given priority for landing, being directed to the runway where the airport's emergency services were already mobilized.

In total, 94 personnel were mobilized with the support of 41 vehicles, the Civil Protection source concluded.

The reason for the emergency landing has not been disclosed.

The flight number looks to be a scheduled flight, no doubt recovering come tech aircraft at MAN, looks like another -300 went to LPL today also to operate a ALC. ironic these old birds are rescuing younger AC ;)
Jet2 B737-300 G-GDFG was covering A321neo G-SUNJ which went tech at Lanzarote so sent to operate yesterdays LS892 ACE-MAN flight.

The other B737-300 G-GDFL went to cover for B737-800 G-DRTE which went tech at LPL so operated their LS3207/8 flights to Alicante and back.

Do we know if the loadings were light on the Lanzarote flight back to MAN as our 733 was sent out on a rescue mission or were passengers left behind. For those who complain about the age of the 733 aircraft our own GDFG 28 years old was sent out to rescue a 1 year old A321neo. Brand new aircraft have technical issues the same as older aircraft.

No I believe it was full. They used the spare Tenerife based B738 G-DRTF to bring the remaining pax back to MAN.

GDFO went up to EDI to do a trip to Venice on the 2nd Jan….went back from Venice to EDI on the 3rd and came back to LBA on the 4th….
That was a charter flight although I’m not sure what it was in relation to.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
