Which presumably is where the money is.
Generally speaking yes. Some might believe it’s difficult to make much ancillary revenue from seat only passengers, however Jet2 are very good at onboard sales. The issue I think is attaining consistent high load factors with seat only flights. May explain why Ryanair and easyJet have got into bed with TUI. Jet2 saw a massive gap in the market for people who wanted that ‘old fashioned’ all in one product and they’ve managed it very well. Even the city break market is doing well because you’d probably not look at TUI if you wanted a long weekend in Prague, even though it’s something they do offer.

Jet2 are moving further and further away from seat only and reserving their seats for packages.

I wouldn’t say they are. Yes the offer the most attractive timed flights (if multiple daily frequencies) to Jet2holidays but they still offer Jet2.com flights to all destinations they serve with Jet2holidays. One doesn’t work without the other and vice versa.

They’ll be a % mix on all flights, on some days in some months it’ll be higher towards holidays over seat only. On other days in the same months seat only will be a higher % then Jet2holidays.

On some of the multiple daily flights it’ll be higher to seat only and vice versa depending which flight in they say.

That’s the beauty of Jet2 it can flip at a stroke if “enter” on a keyboard the proportion of seats on sale and tilt a flight higher in # to jet2.com or Jet2holidays.

Yes but the prices reflect the fact that they want to fill as much of the aircraft as possible with Jet2 Holidays passengers. By contrast, Ryanair sell most of their seats as seat only scheduled flights. Jet2 is mostly an IT operator these days which is more profitable. EasyJet is moving the same way.

Taking information from the last annual accounts July 25 forJet2 they report that that 66.5% of passengers were on their package holidays and 18% seat only. I assume the remainder are charters or block bookings for others. As it happens we are on one of the latter next week on a P&O cruise trip flying BHX to MLA first flight with them on a A321 so get the chance to try out the much criticised seats.

The report did in fact highlight the growth in seat only passengers.

Not sure how based in fact this 'formal interest' to operate from DSA is, but it seems to be more than the other airlines have been prepared to commit to.

Steve Heapy has issued a statement saying that due to the orange man's illegal war, bookings to both Cyprus and Turkey this summer, are drying up. Existing bookings are being cancelled too. Aircraft are 'emptying'. Not good. Six routes, and if its hsppening to Jet2, you can bet its happening to Sun Express too, which is possibly why they have axed their EMA flights before they start. The sad thing is that in reality, holidays to Paphos, Larnaca, Antalya, Dalaman, Bodrum and Izmir are safe.

Steve Heapy said demand is switching towards Spain and Italy, so it will be interesting to see if any flights are canned, if so how many, and if additional flights are introduced on other routes.

Sorry. I am just not buying it.

This is what was said none of that lazy arse journalism.

That Cyprus and Turkey will rebound once the war is over / solution to the conflict is in place. And he as an airline is ready to respond to this.

@White Heather I agree with you however the media are horrific. And will push this conflict on the news every day. The media are the cancer of the world and the most evil tumour when it comes to travel.

If "Safe" destinations are seeing a spike in demand and thus a spike in prices all that will happen is those that are out priced will suddenly look at Turkey / Cyprus and Greece.

Also I wonder what impact people not holidaying in 5* Dubai is having on travel industry (Jet2holidays, easyJet holidays, Tui)?
Are they suddenly seeing a spike in bookings for luxury holidays in Europe (Further afield in TUI case)?

"My Rotherham" posting.. reliable source eh..?
I saw that article, funny how these supposed statements of interest have only made it to a Facebook site that I’d never heard of until now. Anyway, I’m reliably informed that they are unlikely to be interested in DSA for passenger flights. The current situation will not help matters either, particularly if a lot of demand on the bread and butter summer routes are falling off a cliff, as suggested by SH.

Jet2 must be doing something right at Leeds!

In the run up to Easter bank holiday over the next 7 to 10 days the are lots of flights going out full and not many seats left on its routes to including Agadir, Marrakesh, Crete Heraklion, Antalya, Dalaman, Tenerife, Fuerteventura, Las Palmas, Arrecife, Palma, Alicante, Malaga & Faro.

According to FR the 738 9A-ABC has been flying in South America (Argentina/Brazil) for the last three months at least. Then on 25 March it flew from Cordoba (Argentina) to Recife (Brazil) then onto Tenerife and finally to Stansted. It’s due to fly from Stansted to Gatwick tomorrow (Saturday) then from Gatwick to Faro as flight LS3123. This is the third year running that the aircraft has been leased from ETF Airways for the Summer schedule.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
