Record Number of Passengers Using A1 Airport Flyer and A3 Weston Flyer

More than 100,000 people have used Bristol Airport’s bus services in a month for the first time.

In June, close to 110,000 passengers travelled on the A1 Airport Flyer, which links the Airport with Bristol city centre and Temple Meads, and the A3 Weston Flyer, which links with Weston-super-Mare and other local communities. Total passenger numbers continue to increase sharply, up by a fifth compared to the same time last year.

Bristol Airport is also really pleased to see more than 20,000 staff journeys were made, which is a record high. Bristol Airport staff have been able to travel for free on the A1 Airport Flyer and A3 Weston Flyer since August 2022. The free staff travel scheme is part of efforts to reduce employee car journeys and cut emissions. Staff travel continues to rise on our bus routes.

Ed Condon, Transport Development Manager, Bristol Airport, said:

“It’s fantastic that the number of people using our bus service is soaring. We’re committed to growing the number of people accessing the Airport by public transport, whether passengers or staff. These latest figures are hugely encouraging, but we’ve got even higher ambitions and will continue to look for opportunities to improve services across the region we serve.”

The A1 Airport Flyer links Bristol city centre and Temple Meads with Bristol Airport, operating around the clock and runs every 12 minutes during peak times.

The A3 Weston Flyer connects the Airport with Weston-super-Mare town centre and railway station. It is now also linked with Worle railway station, providing a faster, cheaper, and more convenient transport option for customers from the South West. Worle Station also sits on the National Cycle Network 33, further helping to diversify and improve travel options for Airport passengers and staff.

A major £60m public transport interchange and multi-storey car park project including improved internal road system is currently underway at Bristol Airport and is due to open in summer 2025.

The Public Transport Interchange will be created for coaches, buses and other forms of public transport on the top level of the multi-storey car park which will more than double the number of bus/coach bays to 16 (an increase from the current six bays). Enabling the Airport to be one of the region’s largest bus/coach interchanges, and is a major contribution of Bristol Airport’s commitment in improving public transport connectivity across the region.

The project forms part of Bristol Airport’s overall multi-million-pound transformational development plan enabling 12 million passengers a year to use the Airport.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
