Record number of journeys for Bristol Airport Flyer bus service in 2024

For the first time ever the A1 bus service to Bristol Airport carried more than 1 million passengers. Combined with the Weston-super-Mare A3, this saw 1.3 million Flyer journeys in 2024, ensuring customers could travel to reconnect with family and friends and take holidays and business trips in a more sustainable way.

The A1 route to Bristol has seen almost a 20% increase on journeys since 2023. The A3 connecting Weston-super-Mare also saw a year-on-year increase in passengers of 32%. In addition to this, staff commuting to work on the Flyer made nearly a quarter of a million journeys in 2024. Free travel on the Flyer service is available to all Bristol Airport staff.

From May to September passenger numbers were fairly consistent, but the busiest month was August with over 126,000 journeys made. To help encourage use, customers were offered a series of incentives ranging from 50% to family discounts and special rates for children and students.

Ed Condon, Transport Development Manager for Bristol Airport, said:
“This is really great news and we’re thrilled more and more customers are choosing to travel this way. It is also good to see we’ve hit 17% of staff choosing to travel to work using the Flyer. We want to encourage more sustainable travel, and if using the A1 or A3 is an option for our customers, we’d like to make it as easy as possible. We recommend customers sign up to our Rewards email on our website and check our social media sites for sale alerts and special offers, which we regularly run.”
Passengers can buy their tickets online by visiting the To and From section on the Airport’s website. When booking, customers can also sign up to receive Rewards emails. Tickets can also be bought on the A1 or A3 using contactless. Ticket prices and timetables can be found on the website.

Customers wishing to travel further afield can also purchase their tickets on any First Bus in the Bristol Zone or Weston Zone and make a journey to connect with the Airport Flyer at no additional cost. The Airport Flyer enables passengers to access the rail network from Bristol Temple Meads, Weston-super-Mare and Worle stations.
Ed Condon also added: “In the Spring we will be announcing a new timetable that includes a more frequent service overnight, which we feel sure will be hugely beneficial to everyone. We’ll have lots more updates throughout the year.”

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
