Regarding the temporary check in hall B, I did find a previous application to improve the visual appearance of the structure. Nothing ever commenced so maybe they will look at doing that at the same time.

What I can say is many more people are using it now than they were before.
Nothing was said about the layout, as it's not finalised yet, but, the previous 2019 plan had all check in desks in one area of the terminal, where security and Check In Hall A are now roughly, with security relocated to where baggage reclaim is now, and all arrivals coming in via the extension to the building. The extension also provided 3 additional departure gates, 3 double sized baggage carousels, and a substantial increase in passport control desks, plus a significant amount of additional departure seating on the upper floor. It was designed to cater for wide bodied aircraft too.
I am pretty sure that the extension will be built and put into use first and any reconfiguration to the existing terminal will be done as phase 2, almost certainly over the winter months, so there may well be a pause between finishing the extension and starting phase 2, but it makes sense to do the design work as a single scheme with the same design team and potentially the same contractors.
The disruption will be huge, and that was one if the reasons they wanted to build a new terminal instead..This is a scheme that will certainly test the architect and contractors in terms of the programme of works and I will be surprised if it doesn't end up as a 24/7 scheme given the need to complete by the start of summer. A delay could be disastrous. Even then, such as relocating check in and security isn't for the feint hearted! It could all go horribly wrong.
That would need the approval of a planning application!!!now that we are not getting our lovely shiny eco friendly terminal would it not make sense under the new plans to simply straighten out the entire current 1960s not fit for purpose terminal to try give us a building that looks abit more modern. by doing that it would give the terminal vast amounts of extra space and visually from the non air side get rid of the curve and create a full length straight building? seriously if the current terminal stays the same shape and we have the planned extension added on it will make no difference whatsoever esp when pax figures go up. the terminal will always look dated and the stigma LBA has wont go away. so i say go full rectangular shape and get rid of the curve. common sense !
When the application for the extension to the terminal was approved a S106 agreement was signed cancelling the existing permission for the ‘infill’ to the curve of the landslide of the terminal. That would need the approval of a planning application!!!
More to the point why does he ask questions he ought reasonbably to know the answer to?I don’t get why Cllr Walshsaw goes to these consultative meetings all he does is moan and have negative points to make. I understand there’s always going to be concerns regarding noise etc but he’s against the airport fully.
Good to hear though that all 4 lanes will be open. Wonder if the low IQ media will publish the positive articles on that or keep stuping to their usual negativity.
Always puzzles me how the media and the people of Lancashire think so positively about their airport and support growth yet here its just a never ending battle for the airport, a vicious circle of a specific breed of the public brainwashed by galba and the like, self interest councillors and media who's number 1 job seems to constantly be talking negative about LBA, pathetic!I don’t get why Cllr Walshsaw goes to these consultative meetings all he does is moan and have negative points to make. I’ve looked into his social media bios and confirms he’s a climate fanaticIf it’s who I’ve just googled, he’s an out right tosser tbh. Likes the sound of his own voice, 0 intelligence, contradicts his own points. If you left him alone, maybe on the odd occasion threw curve balls at him, he would end up debating himself and getting himself tangled.
During the 2021 council approval meeting that was online, he just would not shut up. Honestly he’s not Labour. He’s a green extremist.
Sadly that’s the world we live in. Full of idiotsAlways puzzles me how the media and the people of Lancashire think so positively about their airport and support growth yet here its just a never ending battle for the airport, a vicious circle of a specific breed of the public brainwashed by galba and the like, self interest councillors and media who's number 1 job seems to constantly be talking negative about LBA, pathetic!
He’s not very bright hence why. But I guess it’s what you get from the Headingley lot.More to the point why does he ask questions he ought reasonbably to know the answer to?
