Thanks for that Severn. More detailed and meaningful stats from you which I am sure everyone appreciates.

It demonstrates that at BRS Ryanair has been increasing its winter offering substantially over the past couple of years whilst standing still and at times going backwards slightly with its summer offering. With Seville and Valencia being offered for the first time next winter this trend will continue unless there are reductions elsewhere in the programme.

That's brilliant news. Shannon was a very popular route back in the day with Ryanair - one of the original 3 routes before we had a base. I think it may have operated 10 weekly at one point . Any news on Bergerac?

Shannon-Bristol has been announced 2x weekly (Mondays and Thursdays) from May 17.

I believe this route was previously served by Ryanair at some point.

Timings suggest a Bristol based aircraft on Mondays and Thursdays

Out of the blue so far as I'm concerned. When Ryanair operated SNN from BRS in the past loads were always good.

A quick look at the recent history of the route shows it began in late 2005 (as Marko points out, one of three routes prior to the BRS FR base being established in 2007). Annual passenger figures (per CAA) were:

2005 13,500
2006 97,000
2007 97,000
2008 85,000
2009 81,000

In 2010 Aer Lingus Regional picked it up after Ryanair dropped out.

2010
27,000
2011 27,000
2012 18,000

Aer Lingus Regional then axed it but brought it back for part of 2014 when 16,000 passengers were carried before pulling it for a second time.

It will be interesting to see what Ryanair makes of the route this time around.

Well lets hope Ryanair give it time to bed in and not drop it after a few months saying pax numbers are low

Hope so but they gave it a good shot last time and only dropped it when they fell out with Shannon Airport and reduced their services there by 75%.

After all these years I've booked a flight with Ryanair. My wife and I have used Go then easyJet on numerous occasions down the years but she was always put off using Ryanair because of the stories she had read about their less than positive customer relations when things went wrong.

I assured her this happened only occasionally and that anyway that nice Mr O'Leary now adopts a cuddly, customer-friendly approach by his airline. I hope I'm right. It's only to Dublin and back so it should be fine. The last two occasions we flew to Ireland we used Aer Lingus Regional so it will be good to compare the Flying Harp.

It's not until June so I've got plenty of time to reflect.o_O
You could always pop over to CWL and use Flybe! :)
Enjoy your flight with them, I've never used them but my sister hasn't had a bad experience with them and she has used them a few times to Spain and Dublin from Leeds.

We were going to use Aer Lingus Regional again - outbound flight times almost identical to Ryanair - but I said to Mrs TLY, "Let's live life to the full and see for ourselves what Ryanair is all about". :wacky:

I've used this route many times with both carriers and on such a short trip which is relatively business oriented, I'm sure you won't find using them a problem at all.
On the other hand, pick a Friday-night "sun" destination over the summer, and you not have the same experience (which is true for other airlines as well not just from BRS!)

On 2 of my last 3 flights with Ryanair they have been cancelled and we have been left to fend for ourselves booking alternative flights ! 1 was because of bad weather the other for a big dent in the side of the aircraft !
However the only time I have had a hassle free journey with them was Bristol to Dublin so you might well be lucky !

I hope so although there ought to be some alternatives throughout the day if the first out has a problem, even if we have to go back to Aer Lingus. Apart from weather intrusions the first DUB is usually ok - famous last words!!

All BRS-DUB flights are operated by DUB based aircraft. DUB being one of their biggest bases, I'm sure IF anything was to go wrong there would be plenty of scope for another aircraft to be used.

Sit back and relax, plan what you are going to do, you'll have a great time and when you come back you will be praising Ryanair.

:)

I don't think I'll lose much sleep over it.;)

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
