Reus

Reus is now on sale for next summer but only from 2 July through to the end of September at 2 x weekly (Tuesday and Saturday).

http://www.westerndailypress.co.uk/Wels ... story.html

I missed this article when it was published but it's only a few weeks old. It concerns Ryanair at BRS and the effects if APD powers were devolved to Wales.

It doesn't make good reading for BRS with the Ryanair chief commercial officer saying that BRS 'was right to be worried' as they could get twice the profit per passenger from CWL than from BRS if APD was cut in Wales (presumably to nil).

He said there will always be a market at BRS but the more challenging routes that small and medium sized businesses would want would not come to the airport. Presumably he is referring to his own airline because BRS already has numerous business routes all over Europe but few by Ryanair.

With many new aircraft on order the Ryanair chief commercial officer says that Central and Eastern Europe provide the best opportunities for growth. The airline prefers to fly more (shorter) routes and with Bristol and Britain 'on the edge of Europe' it's more cost effective to fly within mainland Europe.

I contrast this with the comments of Kenny Jacobs, another senior Ryanair executive, who said earlier this year that Ryanair aims to be bigger than easyJet at BRS eventually. Either there is no joined-up thinking in the senior ranks of Ryanair or the management is using BRS as an example in their fight to get APD abolished all over Britain.

However, I've said before that I believe that Ryanair would be the most likely airline to jump ship (not entirely) to take advantage of more favourable Welsh APD rates.

The BRS senior management believes that APD devolved to Wales would mean:

- The loss of 33 routes at Bristol Airport.

- The loss of one million passengers per year.

- £843 million per year lost to the region's economy.

- The loss of around 1,500 jobs at the airport and dependent businesses.

- Shelving of plans to introduce direct flights to long-haul destinations such as America, the Caribbean and Middle East from Bristol.

Again, there might be an element of exaggeration in this as BRS tries to prevent APD being devolved to Wales. Nevertheless, it would surely have a negative effect on BRS.

It's ironic in one sense in that Bristol is one of the supposedly wealthy cities that for many years has not got back the full amount of its business taxes that it puts into the government's central pot for re-distribution to supposedly weaker economic areas of the country, although I believe this may change following yesterday's Autumn Statement by the chancellor. Wales indirectly benefits with the Westminster multi-billion pound bloc grant to the Wales Assembly Government which allows the WAG to do such things as abolish APD which it says it will do if (when?) it gets the power.

Few extra flights appearing now for peak next summer - an extra weekly Limoges, Tenerife and girona so far

Hmmm unless something changes I think I spotted a fifth aircraft needed on a Sunday morning - pmi, Castellon, chania , Poznan and Tenerife ... And evening to las palmas , Wroclaw, Ali, fao and agp !! I spotted no 13 with ezy so fingers crossed

ryanair are to increase flights to malaga summer 16. going from 7 flights to 9 per week.
all increases good for buisness.

Dublin - Cheltenham Racing Festival

No extra flights shown in the Ryanair booking engine again this year. Same thing happened last year. Until a few years ago BRS used to see a number of additional Ryanair flights each year in connection with the festival.

It now seems that Ryanair concentrates its festival flights exclusively through BHX with several additional ones as in recent years.

The hotels in the Bristol area used to do good business from festival goers and the trains to Cheltenham were rammed with punters.

There was also a time when some of the horses were brought in through BRS but I don't know if that still happens.

Winter 2016/17 starting to be introduced into the booking system. So far Kraków 3 z weekly, Milan 3 x weekly and Venice Trevino 2 x weekly .

Well that's interesting. I take it that Milan is Bergamo. The last time it operated in winter was 2011-2012. It's been summer-only since then.

Treviso has never been a winter route before and Krakow is new for this summer going against the long-established easyJet. Maybe it's pushing the new easyJet Venice Marco Polo route which re-starts next month after an absence of several years.

Ryanair are launching a short June series to Bordeaux presumably for Euro 2016. Also I notice that beziers has had the fourth weekly service added earlier than originally planned. No sign of winter routes yet

Two Ryanair rotations re the Wales v Slovakia game. As neither Bordeaux nor Cardiff are bases (yet) I suppose that they didn't want to move empty aircraft around but this might suggest that the Ryanair BRS base will have spare capacity in June if they can find an aircraft and crew to operate these flights.

Shame there's no flight back to Bristol on Wednesday 15/6 on either Ryanair or Easyjet. I guess I'll still have to fly back to pesky Gatwick.

I note that Ryanair have started to release more winter 16/17 flights - tfs 3 X weekly, ace 4x weekly and lpa 1 weekly plus Kaunas 2 weekly to add to Kraków Milan and Venice already released

Arrecife is an increase then - usually 3 x weekly in winter and, as previously noted, Bergamo, Treviso and Krakow will be new routes in winter although BGY was flown in the winter a few years ago.

Krakow starts soon and that it's continuing through the winter is a clear challenge to easyJet on its year-round service on the route. Presumably Treviso operates in winter for the first time as a nod towards easyJet's new Venice MP route (or restarted after several years absence to be absolutely accurate) which it can be assumed will be year-round too.

Good to see TFS continuing at 3 x weekly still against easyJet's similar frequency. With CWL apparently increasing from one to 2 x weekly next winter on its FR TFS route I wondered if BRS would lose a weekly rotation.

Seems to be a bit of tinkering with the summer schedule. There appears to be extra lpa beziers and faro flights been added tho not yet book able during various parts of July and August. Faro appears to go up to 12 weekly this August.

Last summer Beziers was 4 x weekly in May, July and September, 3 x weekly in June and 5 x weekly in August.

This summer it appears to be 4 x weekly in May, June and July, 3 x weekly in September and 5 x weekly in August.

Last summer Las Palmas was 2 x weekly throughout the summer except August when it was 3 x weekly.

This summer it appears to be 2 x weekly but 3 x weekly in both July and August.

Last summer Faro was 7 x weekly except in August when it was 12 x weekly.

This summer the timetable now appears to be the same as last summer.

With easyJet operating 15 x weekly again to Faro in peak summer there will be 27 weekly scheduled flights split between them and Ryanair as was the case last summer.

We still seem to be waiting for the bulk of the Ryanair flights for next winter to be loaded.

Thanks Marko.

Although the extra rotations to Las palmas, Beziers and Wroclaw are shown in the FR 'diary' they are still not shown in the web timetable or the web booking engine.

The 12 rotations per week to Faro in August are shown in the timetable and in the booking engine.

Not counting the above rotations that are yet to be bookable I make it that this coming May will see 10 more weekly rotations than last May, 14 more in June, 10 more in July, 10 more in August and 6 more in September.

This should give well over 10,000 more passengers per month.

Winter 2016-2017

Still no full release of the winter routes - just a handful so far that have been there for several weeks.

Most of the UK bases have now had their winter schedules published although BRS is not alone in having to wait.

I wonder how Ryanair decides the order in which the base schedules are released. Most if not all of those that have been published seem to have seen healthy increases for next winter, based on recent winters.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
