This is almost certainly a reduction caused by the loss of the TUi/Sunwing based 737 800, together with the loss of the 4 times weekly Thomas Cook flights to Turkey, so although Jet2 have increased their ops slightly, a small reduction was to be expected. I suspect we may see small reductions each month during the peak summer months for the same reasons.

When is this blessed terminal extension going to restart?. Pax numbers are suffering!

With one or two exceptions it looks like an iffy month all round. Not everyone is threatening to build a new terminal are they? Make up your own reasons for the general downturn. Brexit is the usual excuse.

I feel LBA is treading water at best at the moment. The sooner the terminal facilities are improved, the better the chance of securing growth. Tough trading conditions aside, LBA really does need to address it's failings, and fast!

As I suggested a month ago, LBA's summer passenger numbers are bound to be down this year, and this is almost entirely down to the loss of the based TUi 737 800 plus the loss of the 4 times weekly Thomas Cook flights to Turkey. A once weekly Nouvelair to Enfidha , 3 TUi flights per week and a few extra Jet2 rotations will not make up for that. It is nothing to do with the terminal, although there is no doubt that until the new building is in use (or there is a planned opening date), LBA management will be fighting with one arm behind their backs when trying to attract new business. For next summer we have no Thomas Cook flights at all at present and although we are due to have another 737 800 based here, that will not compensate for the loss of capacity caused by the transfer of the 757s over the hill. I can only see further slight reductions overall next summer therefore unless something changes - and as they haven't started building it yet, any terminal building will not be ready now for next summer. The earliest likely date for it going into use is probably going to be Spring 2021 and that is assuming they start construction during this coming winter.

Hi WH, when is the next consultative committee? We are all in need of some positive news??!!

I don’t suppose and just maybe 4 million is our catchment area maximum and all these figures of 8 million in a few years times are just figures picked out of nowhere by these so called experts.
Without more business routes and good connections nothings going to change.....I have never flown to the Far East from LBA as the connection times are rubbish and the flights more expensive so I travel over the hill.

I am flying to Seoul via Amsterdam next week from LBA and paid what I thought was a good price.

I have been very quiet of late and I too think the reason for that is a lack of good news to report so hope something good comes out of that next consultative committee meeting. No doubt WH will provide one of her excellent reports as she always does. Even I am struggling to be positive about LBA just now with the best thing I can currently say is in times of continued aviation turmoil we should still be pleased with the current pax numbers. Problem remains that if the infrastructure, including the new terminal was further on then we wouldn't be talking about decreases, flat lining and lack of new airlines. Come on LBA, wake up and smell the coffee...........

Agreed even last Monday afternoon, the people flow was pretty good but the airport felt very full so heaven knows what its like first thing in the morning! On a positive note even with the limited timetable LHR was up 8% to 8,789 which with by my reckoning and a little rounding over 88 rotations (and I'm sure there was some disruption in there as well) gives for the first time in my recollection 100 pax per sector flown. Also Nouvelair flew 1,502 pax on 10 rotations giving 150 pax per sector which isn't bad for a start up.

41 rotations in July so 82 flights in total. The A319s are 143 seats max. However, due to the variable Club Europe cabin with blocked seats for every row of CE there are 2 seats lost - I have tended to assume an average of 5 rows of CE so worked off 133 seats per flight.

So for my back-of-the-envelope calculations I get 8,789 passengers on 10,906 seats in July so load of 81% - which is healthy. 1H of this year that gives an average load of 76%.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
