The demand is there right across the travel industry - air, rail, sea, hotel, car hire. The infrastructure just isn’t fully restored yet. Too many travel staff left the industry for bigger and better things after being made redundant in 2020. Demand very much still outstripping supply but it is great to see that demand has returned so quickly

The worry is that after the queuing this year, people will look elsewhere for their holidays next year and demand will drop in 2023, just as the industry gets back to full staff levels.

There just needs to be an education piece out there re supply and demand. Yes people want to travel but they must understand that the industry infrastructure hasn’t yet caught up. In just the same way people are starting to forget about COVID (whether rightly or not) they will forget about queues. And other than BE it’s not LBA that’s suffering flight cancellations. What is worse, a 3 hour security queue or having your holiday/trip/travel cancelled or disrupted last minute. U2, BA and TUI not covering themselves in glory at other airports. But that too will probably be forgotten next year as the infrastructure continues to return.

A more detailed analysis of your local airport will be produced when I have the time to compile the data.

Great to see us ahead of EMA and LPL, catching up to NCL next!
When you consider NCL have the likes of Emirates, Lufthansa, and their Paris links, LBA must be just about matching them for all other flights. Given they have the same owners as LBA it's disappointing that we haven't been able to attract the likes of Air France/Hop on Paris or Lufthansa to the likes of Frankfurt. It's ridiculous that we have zero links to Germany from Yorkshire having previously had flights to Munich, Hamburg, Dusseldorf, Weeze, Berlin and if you go back far enough, Frankfurt itself.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
