Don't forget to add -

ALC & AGP flight timetable (ie using 757's on it) doesn't nearly come to an end until the 2nd week in November, plus the fact that the 4th weekly TFS which still will go out at 3pm doens't stop until mid nov, alongwith the fact DLM & BJV are operating throughout october and into a day in november so all should be fine! :)

An increase of 2.8% is very welcome, especially when you put it into context with other airports in our neck of the woods, ie:-

Manchester – Up 2.4%
Newcastle – Up 1.6%
Durham Tees Valley – Down 4.7%
East Midlands – Down 7.7%
Humberside – Down 12%
Liverpool – Down 15.6%
Doncaster – Down 24.5%

A few other interesting things to note from the stats.

Belfast City has shot up 17% to 9145, whilst Belfast International has dropped 40% to just 4045. Obvious who is winning that one.

I keep getting told that the Glasgow is performing badly. Well an increase of 3% from 1131 to 1162 doesn’t seem to back that up, and that’s with a smaller aircraft!! Loganair must be doing something right.

We had more fly to Bergamo (5586) and Krakow (5557) than we did to Paris (5181).

Big increases on Las Palmas, Tenerife and Bourgas.

Overall, very encouraging.

Interesting re Belfast Sydenham (sorry - City/GBIA)
I am travelling to Belfast later this month and my hosts live in Larne. On being given the choice of City or Aldergrove, they elected firmly to pick us up from City. They are virtually equidistant so Aldergrove must loose out on other grounds like NOT being only one stop on the (frequent) trains from City to the City. Flybe wins.........
On my last flight to Aldergrove, the flight was diverted into City due to FOG - and we all cheered!

Bigman, re Glasgow, don't forget that at the beginning of September the Sunday service was introduced, so an extra flight each week. So taking that into account, passengers numbers on weekdays appear to be pretty much the same as before.

I reckon that with the Sunday service starting on the 8th there were 46 rotations on the route in September, and with 1146 pax, that works out at 25.2 per rotation, which on a SAAB 340 must be a reasonable load on a relatively new service. I would think that would be viewed as 'encouraging' bearing in mind the economy etc

Agreed. I would most definitely say encouraging. I would love to know how many of these punters are transferring on to onward flights to the Highlands and Islands.

Being a novice, can someone give me the web site details where I can locate individual passenger flight details.

Do you mean the airport passenger figures for the month? If so, go to www.caa.co.uk and put in the search engine "airport provisional passenger statistics". You should find a pdf for the airports and one for the routes. I think October figures are due out on the 15th (Thu).

The October stats should be out on Wednesday Tarn Spotter so you might want to wait until then.

So any bets on what the October figures will look like?

Bigman;
We were on LS185 on the 14th oct that had to return with a cracked windscreen and continue on another plane. As we went through passport control and then through security again, does this count as two flights:

Bet the figures have some numbers in the range 0123456789.

Kerching. Every passenger counts when the airport is so close to handling 3,000,000!! Sadly, no you wont have been counted twice.

I think the overall stats are correct.

CAA Passenger Statistics for October 2012

A total of 270,341 used Leeds Bradford Airport during October 2012 figures represent no change over the same month last year 0%

Rolling year passenger totals stand at 2,970,844 up +0.6% on the previous 12 months.

I thought we would just about break even this month, so 0% is just about what I thought. Yes, Donny is down, and Liverpool. Manchester is up though and London City have sneaked past us again.

Is there any chance of LBA breaking the elusive 3 million passenger mark this year? I think we should see an increase in numbers for november and know we will see one for december but will it be enough!?

I have a feeling we will be painfully short again!! :s_wacko

Good question. The number of flights are on the low side during the winter months with Jet2.com making significant cutbacks in their programme. British Airways will account for a sizeable percentage of total passengers once they get going so those winter percentages should rise quickly from their current low baseline making the magic three million passengers quickly achievable.

Don't forget:-

December AGP, ALC, MJV, FAO, GVA flights, and ACE & TFS will go 757.
Chambery gets a 757.
And from Feb i'm sure ALC, ACE & TFS will get more then one 757 a week. :)

Add to that we have all the ski routes. Monarch to Grenoble and Munich, Easyjet to Geneva and Jet2 to Chambery, Grenoble, Geneva and Salzbug.
Also Ryanair re-start 2x weekly flights to Malta and they are adding extra flights to Dublin, Arrecife and Krakow over the festive period.

Then in February we see Jet2 restart flights to Rome and Funchal as well.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
