No no no of course not. I called it a blog but basically it's a blank canvas and depending on where it goes it could be used for all sorts of things. I was mainly thinking of the Airport Overviews detailing all the key points.

Don't worry, I'm unlikely to rush into anything that is likely to lead to increased workload. It is probable that I won't proceed with it anyway.

Thanks for that. The reason I asked is that my sister-in-law has her own web site and posts a regular blog about all matter of things that take her interest, whether current affairs, her hobbies, everyday life etc.

Honestly, a blog and a forum don't mix. You either have one or the other. The same applies to when forums have chatboxes as it takes away all the activity from where it should be i.e. the forums

The best thing to do would be to create a "Portal" where you could feature threads e.g. http://support.cliptheapex.com/ (a paid addon) but there's nothing stopping you from creating a page or two with information e.g. Twitter Feeds, RSS Feeds, About, etc. etc. ;)

You could do that. Like I suggested before, you could move your airport links to a sub-forum under the discussion forum and you could also add a summary page as a sub-forum so info on that specific airport is like all under one roof.

Like you said though, it would be very time consuming to maintain but in the longer run, is probably better and more organised compared to using one thread or one forum with links to everything in as you're no longer on restricted hosting where forums with info threads were the only way to present it ;)

Ashley will be doing some forum updates soon. Is there anything anybody thinks need tweaking, adding or removing? Are there any functions you've seen elsewhere you'd like to see here?

I access the site via a mobile device and it's not working well for me. The home page has changed to recent posts only.

Please accept my apologies, I'm aware of the problem with the rendering of the mobile page. Ashley says he's going to look at it for me at some point.

Further to my last post you can view all the usual forums in the mobile site using the Quick Navigation Tool which looks like a family tree tab.

I'm hoping it will be a lot better now the layout has been changed slightly. It may be subject to change again but right now the homepage should get laid out as follows on mobile:

Navigation
-----------------------------
Advertisement
Welcome Text
New Albums
Promoted News/Articles
Some Information Blocks
-----------------------------
Forum Sidebar Blocks (same as the forums page)

Later on once a bug has been fixed, the information blocks will be moved nearer the top. If the Portal is not what you are after, then I'd recommend saving https://www.forums4airports.com/forums/ as the bookmark. Also, screenshots of the bugs would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Just to reiterate what Ashley has said, the main homepage is very much still work in progress, so what you see right now is not how I intend it to look once complete.

Once completed members will be able to view new items at a glance. New visitors will be able to see what the forum is about without needing to troll through the forums and we'll be able to promote threads and forums on the homepage where they will get the maximum number of views.

As Ashley has pointed out, if you were entirely happy viewing the forum as it was, you can still do this at forums4airports.com/forums or by clicking on the Forums tab at the top of the site.

Hi guys

The latest updates are now complete.

I'd really appreciate it if you could take a moment to offer your views on the new site layout.

First impression was that it was too cluttered but now used to the layout. Compared to a certain other website, this makeover seems to have been relatively smooth!

Thanks for the feedback it's much appreciated. If there is anything you feel we can improve on, do let me know. The front page news and info is done manually using html coding. If there's anything anybody would like me to feature there, send me a link to the thread or message me your write-up and I'll be happy to feature it. Also, it is possible for me to create a heads up movements list on the homepage but again this would require involvement from members to make it happen. Also, if members are planning a trip to an airport they can announce it here to get others to join in.

Comment sent to me "off forum" as a question.

Person is finding it hard to navigate to last page of a thread as there is no "go to next or last" button at the top of the pages. I'm think they are using Android.

It seems like reasonable comment. Any chance of it being included at the top as well as the bottom of each page?

You may not realise but at the bottom righthand side of the page using a mobile device you'll find an up and a down arrow tab. They only appear once you start your scroll. If you click on the down arrow it will take you to the base of the page where you can navigate pages.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
