But that would mean the Route Development thread will become overkill with information at times ??

Sometimes members want to have alot of discussion about one particular airline after an announcemnet and then that will get disrupted by another new route announcement ?

Having individual airline threads with the airports means you can chat to yours heart content without another new airline route getting in the way.

Ryanair thread will be a nightmare for example. I will have to scroll down the page quite slow, so that I don't miss anything about BHX. My eyes are not getting any younger Aviador, ha

Let me have another think over the weekend as I want to give it some thought, I am a funny bugger when it comes to change. Im the same with work/personal life too, it's not just FFA

I can't deny it would be a big change and that's why I wanted to run it by everyone that uses the forum. Most people are change averse and don't like the idea of change but sometimes it works fine. I'm not going to go-ahead with this one unless most people are on-board with it so at the moment it looks like it's not going ahead.

I can possibly trial it for a short period by closing airline threads. and opening the new threads. If people don't adopt to it I can simply revert it back and reopen the old airline threads no problem.

Personally I prefer things the way they are now, I don’t particularly want to open an EasyJet thread and read about new routes from other airports. If you are looking to keep things simple maybe adopt the PPRUNE method and just have one ongoing thread for each airport?

The only difference is new posts would be split between Route Development & Rumour and Airline Schedule Changes instead of multiple airline threads.

Should it happen then I can see the vast majority of my posts being solely in the BHX Route Development & Rumour thread.

I just can't see myself reading through five pages of Ryanair changes at MAN/EDI/LBA/BRS/CWL etc to finally learn that they're dropping BHX-VNO.

If this has come about due to duplication, or lack of, then maybe as Mods we could agree to be a little more proactive in copying posts that are possibly relevant to multiple airports but are only being discussed in one sub-forum?

I agree but as everyone [just about] will be aware, we all have day jobs so it's not always practical for mods to be spending all day copying posts and moving them to different parts of the forum.

The purpose of this is to establish firstly if it would work, secondly if there's an alternative to make it work better.

Don't swear at me.

But if it were were to go-ahead with this you would be opening the local Route Development thread to read the same info.
I’m not so sure, for example the recent BHX-NAP announcement was made in the EasyJet BHX thread not the BHX Route Development thread. So in future any new route announcements would just be posted in a general EasyJet thread? If they announced a whole bunch of new routes across the U.K. I’d have to read about all the MAN/LGW/BRS/BFS routes aswell? Same would apply to Ryanair, Jet2, TUI and other airlines that have presence across many airports?

Would that not sit here?

or in an Airline Schedule Changes thread?

Yes it probably would, but as things stand now if I learn EasyJet had announced BHX-CDG I’d post it straight into the BHX EasyJet thread and I’m pretty sure everyone interested in BHX would see it. Under these proposed changes which thread would I post this info now? The general EasyJet thread, the BHX news thread, the schedule change thread, the route development thread? Hope you can understand where I’m coming from?

I do personally prefer the layout we currently have with the individual airline threads but maybe some can be combined a bit more especially for the more obscure airlines and maybe alliance airlines ie KLM/Air France or Lufthansa/Turkish/Star Alliance airlines as often they do have a connection.

As I said earlier in the discussion and further to what Thunderchild has said, sometimes , yes sometimes we have 2 or more new airline route announcements on 1 day so posting this news in the Route Discussion thread will make it hard for the conversation to flow about one particulatr new route as 1 minute we will be discussing Qatar to DOH (Hopefully) on the same day that Eurowings have launched a new route to Berlin (Hopefully), the conversation will be all over the place ?

Also when I go into the BHX thread, normally when I see lots of unread threads, this makes me excited that there is good news and is quite fun.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. The news items can then be shared on the site homepage by you. #TakePart #Forums4airports Bring the news to one place!
survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
