I'm sure both rotations were with gla/ morning rotation was GLA CWL CDG evening rotation was CDG CWL GLA The aircraft overnighted in GLA.If I remember correctly no flybee aircraft were based in cwl.
It was not flybee then as it was jersey eoropean.

There’s always the argument that extra frequencies stimulate demand. For example i won’t fly flybe to Rome because with flights at 2 Weekly it’s just too long of a break. Now if it’s at 3 weekly it opens up more options for people.

As a side note, It’s fascinating how many still fly from BRS around here and don’t even look at Cardiff. One person said to me they don’t look at CWL or BRS and always select BHX, mad how someone living in Cardiff can say that.

Thanks Jerry.
Surprised to see PMI above ALC, and AGP down in 7th. It shows how strong the charter market is for Majorca and Tenerife. There must be scope for more from VY to PMI and FR to TFS.

Jerry, are these annual stats published somewhere or have you done the maths from the monthly CAA stats? The CAA usually publishes its own annual stats for airports in the March following the year in question.

I did the stats from the monthly CAA stats. Didn't know they did an annual one!

These are the annual CAA stats for all airports for international flights in 2016.

https://www.caa.co.uk/uploadedFiles...al/Table_12_1_Intl_Air_Pax_Route_Analysis.pdf

These are the annual CAA stats for all airports for domestic flights in 2016.

https://www.caa.co.uk/uploadedFiles...2_Domestic_Air_Pax_Traffic_Route_Analysis.pdf

They are obtainable from the below CAA page - in the case of 2016 click on the year at the bottom of the second column beneath December.

Just a comparison i found the top 10 routes for 2007 so thought i'd compare them. 2007 is to the below the 2017 numbers and in red.

With the exception of Paris CDG replacing Glasgow and a few position changes the top 10 routes haven't changed much in the last decade.

With the chat on the Bristol thread about long haul passengers numbers and expectations and with Qatar Airways starting in May and bringing a long haul scheduled route back to CWL for a while (the CAA has the Canadian flights as scheduled) i decided to have a look at the passenger numbers for CWL's long haul routes in the past.

Looking at the numbers it does appear that once the global crash happened routes like Sanford and Toronto disappeared and but the Caribbean routes stayed and fluctuated with their figures also Florida did seem to make a slight comeback only to disappear. Since 2013 when the Welsh government took over and the long haul routes were at their lowest there has been steady growth and of course 2018 will see the introduction of Doha and fingers crossed by the end of the year CWL's highest year of 2006 with 77,171 long haul passengers should be at least matched if not surpassed.

Interesting research - thanks for that, Jerry. 2018 has every chance of becoming the best ever year for long haul in terms of total passenger numbers. If you include the likes of Hurghada (long haul for APD purposes) then a record total looks to be very probable.

I didn't include Egypt, as i wasn't sure whether it could be counted as a long haul route, i didn't realise it came under the long haul APD band.
Hopefully as well in 2018 we'll also get announcements for the return of Orlando/Sanford for 2019 and the long haul side can keep growing.

Over 2,000 miles is Band B.

Band A is up to 2,000 miles and hasn't been increased for a number of years, unlike Band B which sees around about a £2 increase each year. Band A has been £13 for the lowest class of travel since at least 2014 and remains at that level from April this year and from April 2019 to April 2020.

CAA stats for January 2018.
70,297 passengers passed through the airport up 7.2% on 2017. The rolling year is 1,468,887 up 8.8% on 2017.
Atm's are 1082 down 6.6%, the rolling year was 16,870 up 4.5% on 2017.

Great to see these routes growing, especially in January. Berlin and Munich for sure.

Berlin and Munich seem to have done well in January, also nice to see Amsterdam continuing to grow and Rome does seem to be doing well as well.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. The news items can then be shared on the site homepage by you. #TakePart #Forums4airports Bring the news to one place!
survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
