That is indeed true. But doesnt the law also hold the bar person serving the drinks as culpable. There have been many convictions of bar tenders for over serving. Perhaps a few cases at airports and the airside and land side establishments will put safety before profits.

And the amount that of pints on display at 4 am is staggering. Travellers are in a partymood so think nothing of ordering a pint at that time. Each to their own i guess but the fact that drunken flight cancellations is such a rarity is a testament to the drinking powers of the South West non millenials.

Looks like easyjet are going to make an example of this passenger that was deboarded. The guy from Merthyr Tydfil has been released on bail while investigations are on going. Easyjet have a zero tollerence on ppl that have drank too much.
Simon calder said on radio this morning that there should be test level kits at the gates, and I agree with him.I don't agree much what he says but this time hes right.

There is an article in WalesOnline which a member of the stag party claims that the crew overreacted and he wants them sacked. He's also not very nice about the head cabin crew and mentioned legal action. The social media comments aren't exactly supportive of him!

A read of some of his Twitter comments gives an idea of the sort of person this man is. Threats of legal action against easyJet. Carry on - see how far it gets you. Perhaps the innocent passengers who had their trips ruined should be contemplating taking legal action against those fellow passengers whose actions led to the situation.

I hope easyJet publicly defends the action of their crew in the face of some nasty personal comments against the cabin staff supervisor made by this man on Twitter. If I was the staff member concerned I'd be asking my employer to get the opinion of their legal advisors as to whether I'd been libelled in the comments.

I hope they do as well. People need to realise that they can't act like idiots on a plane and get away with it. People need to be responsible for their own actions but unfortunately I do think this is an effect of a society that thinks the holiday starts at the airport and a society that thinks you can't have a good time without getting drunk.
As for the cabin crew, in the end they don't do that job to get hassle or to get into aggravation and i do hope that whatever action the person takes Easyjet is 100% behind them.

I note that gibraltar is being increased to 4 weekly this coming winter and there will be 5 flights to paphos during October half term

More about that Prague flight with eyewitnesses saying that the stag party were disgraceful.

If this report is anywhere near true, the behaviour of some of these people was disgusting.

Many buses have CCTV in the passenger saloon. I wonder if thought has been given to having something similar on passenger aircraft? One snag might be different attitudes to surveillance in various countries. At least the CCTV could be active whilst aircraft are at British airports and probably en route.

Relying on evidence of cabin staff and passengers is not ideal when it comes to identifying who did what. Many people, even professional witnesses such as police officers, find it difficult to recall exactly what went on and by whom in public order situations involving a number of people, which seems the case here. Video could support any primary evidence from witnesses on board. There might already be some evidence collected by passenger's mobile phones.

I hope the Avon & Somerset Constabulary will pursue this vigorously to try to build evidence against as many people as possible. If they can prove to a court that serious criminal acts were committed and by whom I hope punishment will be severe.

What sad times we have got into, with cctv cameras every where.I must agree cameras should be looked into on aircrafts. Its so sad that 1 person halted this flight and to be cancelled. So when it gets to court they throw the book at the passenger,if no jail sentence hit them in the pockets.

There is a post on another forum saying that easyJet is to start a 2 x weekly Sofia route from Southend from 16 December - given the start date it might be for the ski season only. easyJet also operates from Sofia to Gatwick, Manchester and a seasonal to Edinburgh.

BRS seems a notable omission given it punches well above its weight with ski flights generally. Since Wizz gave up the route there is just a weekly charter to Sofia in the ski season.

I'm surprised that either easyJet or Ryanair haven't taken up this route as it was always well patronised when with Wizz. However I think a round the year service would be better than a ski season only. The other route that I'm surprised isn't year round is Lyon .

Ezy have cancelled their Rome and Venice rotations today in response to the ATC strike.

Hen party had to fork out £6k after easyJet cancelled Bristol Airport flight to Malaga
Thursday 31 May 2018

easyJet has now cancelled the evening Malaga. I don't know why. A number of inbounds were seeing significant delays. Perhaps one of these aircraft (and crew?) was due to operate the Malaga this evening.

No chance of getting some of the pax on tomorrow's flights. Both outbounds are sold out as are the three on Saturday and one of the two on both Sunday and Monday. Those pax hoping to come back to BRS later this evening are in the same boat with the inbounds all sold out for the next few days exactly along the lines of the outbounds.

There is a handful of seats shown in the Ryanair seat selector as unoccupied over the next few days (Saturday inbound already sold out). BACF has two flights on Saturday/Sunday morning and TUI on Sunday (Thomas Cook doesn't serve Malaga from anywhere) but it's likely these are going to be full or nearly so.

Unless easyJet can put on some sort of rescue flight there will be a lot of disappointed and annoyed customers at both ends of this route.

This was the flight cancellation I commented on at the time (31 May) in above link.

The hen party subject of this press article had to fly from BHX and STN (in two groups) in the end because all the BRS Malaga flights were sold out for the next few days as I said at the time when I also said there was likely to be a lot of disappointed and annoyed customers. There obviously were.

A spokeswoman for easyJet said: "easyJet is sorry that Ms Parker’s flight from Bristol to Malaga on Thursday, May 31 was cancelled due to a crew welfare issue. easyJet has been in touch with Ms Parker to apologise for any inconvenience caused and to arrange for her party’s expenses to be reimbursed."

I always smile wryly to myself when organisations apologise for any inconvenience caused as if there might not have been any inconvenience. Why don't they say 'for the inconvenience caused'?

We don't know the real truth behind the crew welfare explanation. Cynics like me will wonder if it's an easy (no pun) thing to come out with as an excuse whilst being impossible for affected passengers to challenge.

Does anyone wonder if Easyjet have stretched themselves too thin operationally wise?

Easy had some problems last year too. Trying to squeeze maximum flights out of their planes with as low a staffing bill as possible is bound to cause problems. A business model that every loco airline aspires to though.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
