Given easyJet's announcement this week of a new Glasgow-Birmingham service, there is speculation that the airline might increase its presence at BHX dramatically, including the possibility of a base.
Whilst a BHX base would probably have little if any effect on diluting easyJet's BRS passenger numbers, as CAA and other stats tend to suggest that relatively few travellers from/to the West Midlands use BRS at all, I don't know what the situation might be regarding availability of aircraft.
Jethro tells us that numerous A320s and A321s are on order for the coming years but it's not easy to work out the net loss or gain in the overall fleet size next year. If some aircraft went to BHX for a base and the fleet size didn't increase by much a lack of aircraft might mean that there could be a question mark over further expansion of the BRS base in the immediate future.
